My new Kmx 1200w cyclone :)

Hi guys
Me and my brother decided to build a electric bike on one of our kmx kart !

for the first week , The ride that give this tiny under 90lbs kart was amazing ,almost scary :)

But yesterday I got a problem !

the gear of the 1200w motor stop to turn( But the shaft still turn) !?
====remember I m using a double free wheel kit=====

I unscrew the double freewheel , And first I see the a bearing missing !?
(could the missing bearing is the heart of the problem ...?)

So I decide to contact Paco , and I buy a dawn new double freewheel :(
CYCLONE TW told me , to not put the motor to FULL THROTTLE when I use it, because it not good for the motor...

So tell me what you think , how you guys treat your motor ?are you always soft with it? ( because these little motor are fragile??? )

Comment on my kmx

It a 1200w 48v motor,with a 48v 20amp from ping battery .

For the first 50 km it was a bast to drive , amazing acceleration, lot of torque, This little is scary fast, :twisted:

My kmx have 8 gear and I have only try the first the 5 gear.

AFter that I got my problem, the double freewheel stop to turn :cry:


Does this kind of problem arrived frequently :?: :roll:
 
the only number I see on that thing is FCB-20 :arrow: lock

The name of my cat is GOLDORAK (it a 80 s Japaneses anime )

28 Newton metres is the nominal torque rating for that clutch bearing. I would have thought that was just about adequate. Maybe it was a poor one, or badly fitted?

The clutch-bearing is pressed into the main part of the freewheel. It could be rotating there but that's unlikely.

It looks like the rollers and/or their carrier are broken. Does the shaft look damaged/worn?

does cyclone have the only option for the bearing?

Or is there any other online store ?

So do you think it my fault if a broke it ?
is this a common problem for this kind of motor user?

Well I have ordered the new double freewheel yesterday...

But I will keep this double free wheel , and maybe will try to repair it later ...
 
I have receive my brand new double freewheel !

My second try with this cyclone kit for this summer.

I have questions,

-Is there any precaution before I put it back on the shaft ??
-Is it true that this kit can t support full acceleration (it to much stress for that double freewheel ) ??

If you guys have any hints , IT will help me

Ps remember I have only made under 50 km with this freewheel !!
 
Seems we are all having durability issues with these 1200W kits... The only tip I can give, other than finding a stronger clutch, is to roll onto the throttle. It could be that you are snapping the throttle or getting on it too quickly and the initial bang from the slack in the drivetrain being suddenly taken up is breaking the needles.

With my single-freewheel cyclone kit I've been trying to at least put a bit of pedal power in when leaving from a stop to engage the rear freewheel before I jump on the throttle. Maybe a combination of a few pedal strokes and rolling into the throttle will prolong the life of your new freewheel. If you killed it after only 50Km, I fear it's only a matter of time until the next one melts down. Start planning now :?

Nice setup, BTW. I totally believe you when you say that ride is a little scary. It can be pretty exciting in the usual upright riding position but being that close to the ground and feet-first is probably a bit more thrilling :D

Yeah, if buying a lot of bearings is your plan then go for it :) Probably better to start tracking down a stronger bearing of the correct dimensions now so you can minimize your downtime for when your current one breaks. It's possible you just got a bad unit, but given that paco told you to just go easy on it, I'm guessing they know the freewheel isn't up to the task when paired with that motor.

Does the KMX have a rear disc brake or mounting points for one? You might be able to do what a lot of others have done around here and mount a sprocket on the left side of the rear wheel, reverse the motor rotation, and drive the wheel directly. You'd have to track down a left-hand freewheel, but it would probably be stronger than the unit you're using now. As a bonus you'd be able to mount the motor lower underneath your seat to lower the center of gravity a bit. You'd even get to pedal a bit with the motor running, if you wanted :)
 
Check out the motor shaft and freewheel dimensions and see if any of these might fit the bill.

What I like about this kit is that I can still use my rear disk break. (that why I bought it)

But the Thinks I was unaware is that the kit can t support is own powerful torque (like the seller told me; be gentle with the acceleration)

It Like buying a dewalt power tool ,like a drill . And the seller tell you be gentle , don t use it at full speed , it can broke !!

I presume that the drill ,I buy can support the the pressure when I push the bottom ??? no
 
Hi guys the NEW bearing clutch is going well....

I just made my first official speed test, with the help of 2 young scooter driver ...

I have to make future improvement(because I can t use all my rear gear on my kmx )

But I can tell you that the first 4 gears give me a nice 60 KPH or 37.3 mph :).

I m happy with that and I assume with the 4 other gear I will be able to get around 90 kph(like cyclone tw say on they website)

I will try to make a video soon,,,

60Kph is pretty close to the max speed I can get on a flat road without tucking (regardless of gearing) so you should definitely be able to go faster with that little trike.

How's that new bearing holding up?
