I picked it up down the road for free 4 flat tires no motor
rust it was an ex rental bike from center island in toronto back in the 70s to the 80s . I have added the motor and controls from a fortress 2000 mobility scooter.
still of work to do on it.

I lost the origanal photos
just moved the motor forward and lengthened the chain so the the passenger pedals work now .

running 12 volts for now with a simple 50 amp on off switch till I get a new controller .

around the 12 to 15 MPH right now. but I will be replacing the the gear on the motor soon for one ruffly double the size . I have to keep it under 20 mph
under the the ontario e-bike laws.

the motor is off a fortress 2000 scooter

type a9y1x00273
24 volts dc
rated at 15 amp
out put 84 in-lbs
172 rpm

just added a larger sprocket to the motor have remount the motor and cut a new chain to fit will test after wards

I don't think I'd be game to do 20mph on it

damn it fast ! one problem though I forgot hook up the brake cables

had to make like Fred Flintstone and use my feet to stop
took along time and wrecked my shoes

I added a larger sprocket to the motor and changed the chain the first chain was not messing properly and skipped now and then . also sent the right rear wheel off to be trued had it had a one inch wobble and lost some spokes .
cost $45 to repair . next im making a new motor mount and covering in the rear end

"I have to keep it under 20 mph
under the the ontario e-bike laws." The fourth wheel makes it illegal under Ontario law . Has steering handlebars and is equipped with pedals
- Is designed to be propelled primarily by muscular power and to travel
on two or three wheels
- Has an electric motor with a maximum power of 500 watts and a maximum
speed of 32 km/h
- Bears a label that is permanently affixed by the manufacturer in a
conspicuous location stating, in French and English, that the vehicle
is a power-assisted bicycle and meets federal Motor Vehicle Safety
regulations.

I had contacted the peterborough police and spoke to the head traffic cop.
he said 4 wheels is fine . handle bars or steering wheel doesn't matter .
also I was told to add my own label .

I dont know how many watts the motor uses and was told not worry about it they wont be checking on that .

the motor is a type a9y1x00273
24 volts
rated at 15 amps
84 in- LBS
172 rpm
I think it is 360 watts
its off a fortress 2000 scooter

the motor could be 500 watt. it looks the same as what I have. the PO took the "park" brake all apart and I can not find any info on how to put it back together. not even sure I have all the parts. I run at a max speed of about 24 mph but only on 3 wheels.

got some new info on the motor
It is equipped with a 1500Watt DC motor that is rated @ 36VDC upto 40Amps of current.

The controller that is a proprietary Fortress design is only utilizing 2/3rds of the available power at 24Vdc.

info comes from http://www.theworkshop.ca/energy/lev/fs2000/lev1.htm

hi Frank
im still using the hubs you cast me for my fortress scooter bought some new rubber with treads 13.5 tires to replace the 10"
tires .

I had the bike tires sand blasted and the drum brakes cleaned and checked the pads.there just like new .
I am now working on a new motor mount .
cant wait for the spring
going to add a bike computer to it .

well I made a new motor mount and and addded new batties a set of 8G22Nf 12V, 50Ah (20Hr) Sealed Gel Cells. at 24volts It is equipped with a 1500Watt DC motor that is rated @ 36VDC upto 40Amps of current. took it out for a spin the contoller was heating up and shutting off . now building a new housing for the controller circuit board and adding cooling fans . if that fails then ill be searching for a new controller
the one im using is off one of my old fortress 2000 mobilty scooters .
