My Trip to Interbike 2011 in Las Vegas

Here are the pictures & videos I told from my trip to Interbike at Las Vegas. I'm still tired after a long drive from Vegas back to San Francisco (10 hours).

John is the designer & founder of Stealth Ebike from Australia - (left > John, right > me)


New Stealth model (absolutely beautiful):


There were three different models at the convention. I was super impressed after tested two models from John. I was able to do wheelie with the bigger direct drive motor model. Awesome built quality and torque. He's a very nice and supportive guy. All the models at the show floor were sold the last day.

Daniel is the designer & founder of EGO-kits from Austria - (left > me, right > Daniel). I have tested his Ego Kit and very impressed with the motor/geared setup. The wearable backpack battery takes time getting used to but I personally love it. Because it is more convenient to recharge. The bike has sooooooooooooooooo much torque in low gear causing me doing wheelie during the test ride. He is another cool dude.







Dan Hanebrink is the designer & founder of the Hanebrink Ebike - (left > Dan, right > me). He is definitely the godfather and the legend of the motor sports with a long history. If you do not know who he is, do a Google search with his name.



Mr. Hon is the founder of Dahon folding bicycle - (left > Mr. Hon, right > me). He studied physics in California back in the 70s. He's the godfather in the folding bike industry. We had a long conversation and I was shock after hearing his opinion on controllers design. This guy is very intelligent seriously!

I wish I could ride my ebike to get there but only if Kingfish is coming along.

There were actually many ancient Chinese electric bicycles at the Interbike. Most of the Chinese companies from China and Taiwan have rented the booths way at the back to save costs. I've met a few cute Chinese girls at the booths though.

Summit Carbon Fiber Ebike at ONLY $9999.99. In my opinion, I would rather get the Stealth Ebike instead and still have $3000 extra left in my pocket. It looks very nice though.

GoPro 3D housing unit (2 GoPro in one plastic housing plus interface cable). I have watched a few 3D videos and was very amazed with the 3D and HD quality. Things from the videos almost popped out in front of me. I've got to have one...two for 3D I mean.

John from Stealth has always seemed like a good guy, I have bought a few things from his e-mtnbike website, apart from our very own Hyena, he has always seemed one of the most helpful ebike part suppliers in Aus.

or at least some clue in broad general terms, i'm curious to hear his thoughts too.

The BIG direct drive hub motor is from a Chinese company. It's a 48V 4000 watts motor. I have forgotten to ask for their info. But I will let you know if I found out. The EV hub motor weights at least 40-50 lbs.

As for the conversation with Mr. Hon from Dahon, it has to do with the rider coordination on demand. Sorry, but he was using many physics related technical terms I could not remember. Such as U is electrical potential energy. U=kq^2/r and so on... LOL

Hey there, that 4kw hub is indeed an emax one. I managed to Buy one off eBay listed as possible faulty halls. I've bought one of mr lyens testers to check it out. From doing a quick goole check I found the company on Alibaba called proud eagle who sell the controllers. Really want to use the modular controller gwhy is developing but it would be good to have some internal photos for helping me sort the hall sensors If indeed that is the fault with it

I am not aware of the improvements because the girl at the Stealth booth was more attractive to my eyes. It would be best to inquire John to find out.

I'm also interested in the hub motor for cars. The only challenge is how are you going to put it on with minimal modification. This way, your local auto mechanic can help if needed.
