Nanjing far driver controllers

Does anyone know if it is possible to program the Fardriver to have constant power input as the battery drains? It would have to raise the current somehow, I just dont know if there is a way to do this automatically.

I've been following info on these closely as they are about the only off the shelf system I can find for 96V that can push the phase amps I'm looking for at this price point without building something myself (ala BESC V2)

But man the software problems people are having are just a turn off for purchase right now.

Has anyone cracked one of these open (like the ND96850?) What sort of MCU is in use? What kinda FETs are being used?

My dream would be for this level of hardware with VESC firmware+software. It is a real shame these companies are trying to develop their own control software as none of them seem good at it. They hardware manufacturing on the other hand seems somewhat stable and acceptable quality (considering the people who do get these running seem to have no issues).

As a note on the phone app vs PC app - I've noted this trend of making the software mostly available as an android/ios app primarily for so many recent things in China, and the people there I've worked with have shed some insight on this with me-
The trend is two sided- one.... many developers for GUI based tools now have much more experience making phone apps than writing windows-based GUI software... the devtools and young people programming are just flowing over from phone app dev and the turnaround for such apps is therefore quick and cheap. and the second- many people in China simply do not have PC's/laptop computer anymore and are relying on their phones mostly for all 'computer' activities, young people especially, thus everything is starts as a phone app. This is what I was told at least, and it makes sense but it kinda shows what kinda development that can be expected for these support tools. :-(

Hi guys!
There is a 2 wire connector with wires called Cruise and Boost.
There is also another 3 speed connector with high and low speed.

So what would Boost actually do and what do you connect it to? Thanks

Today I made a progress and got the Firmware flashed with an i-phone 6 from a friend. I could also save it. But only one of the two firmwares I got mailed is working. With the other the controller only beebs and tells wrong firmware.
Now the controller still shows ND72850 but the max volt is set to 121.5V.
I also got the motor auto learned after grounding the brake switch.

With my Android phone I can set parameters and save them.
Now I have to find out why the motor only reacts to the throttle from a standstill. After it was turning and entered regen braking it does not react until it does not turn anymore. After that I can speed it up again.

The biggest problem at all is the non functional Android app and the manual for the software.
Please guys at fardriver get this problems solved fast.

Hi..what is the firmwate version that worked for you?

I got two versions , the first worked
ND96850_43_ARA05KTY83
ND96850_43_ARA020_8680

I found also that for some actions the software needs internet.
It also needs GPS activated. Don´t ask me why.
Next thing would be "enter your bank details and pin-number"

Fore some actions it wanted a login, but no number worked

Has anyone been able to get parking gear working on these controllers. I connected both cruise and boost lines and both works the exact same. When I use park button it acts as cruise. I've disabled cruise and enabled parking gear and still nothing. Very frustrating. Runnibg ND72710 far driver controller.

Dude I'm asking same question as you. I tried getting parking gear enabled using both lines and they act as cruise on and off. Boost seems to do exact as cruise/ parking. In the PC13 field on the app it changes both wires with several options. Nothing does boost or parking. Very frustrating.

Thanks for sharing this thread. I got one of these controllers for my first conversion attempt. It looks like they are difficult to adjust and I hope it just works at this point but I did not even connect everything to check yet.

My controller ND72530_23_ARG15

I am also not so sure about the wires. I need to include head lights on my project so I wish to ask if the diagram I modified is correct. Requirement is to have headlight on all times while operating.

I made following changes to the Far-driver schematic.

  • Connect DC/DC 72v input to ignition switch.
  • Add 12 volt wire to headlight.
  • I will also include 12 wire to turn signal switch.

First question:

1. Will the wiring in this diagram work or is it incorrect?

fardriver-controller-wiring-with-headlight.jpg

Other question:

2. The battery I got has a BMS inside that supposed to cut off on over load. Is that the same as "Kill Switch" in the original diagram?

3. Does the DC/DC ground the 12v lights to chassis or do I make a ground wire from battery to chassis?

4. Is correct that High Brake will signal controller to stop power to wheel when brake applied?

5. What is the Low Brake wire for?

6. Key Lock (Orange) wire is to wake up controller when key turned on?

Thanks for any insight or advice.

I want to ad a temp sensor to my motor. Has it to be wires to the gnd or to the hall+?

6. Key look , wakes up controller
5. High brake can stop Controller or activate regen braking
4. Low brake does the same, depending on your settings
3. Do not ground the battery to the chassis
2. Kill switch is to turn off controller manualy, your BMS can do the same, also a circuit braker can do the same. You should add a posibility to turn your controller off with a switch. It is possible that bms gets damaged and can not shut off anymore.

Thanks for help.

I saw some videos now about the controller too. Did not looks as diffcult for basic configuration as I thought.

hello guys, does anyone know why on the bluetooth app, it say "use newer pro bluetooth" i was trying to switch from normal to expert but there is a time limit now :(.

Got answer vom Siaecosys. Temp sensor has to be wired to GND.

you'll get 5 beeps when the voltage is too low

Hello community,
how does the FarDriver controller act, when the battery voltage reaches the "LowVoltageProtect" level?

Does it simply stop driving, or does it switch back to the lowest gear (with the lowest power)?
Does it beep?

tnx 4 reading,
Jeff

It stops output power, like every other controller.
To bad that it does not reduce current/power before battery is completely empty.

I'm having a similar issue I Don't really know where to connect the Park cruise wire 2And it's also beeping when I pull up my throttle to start self learning

Have you connected the brake switches?
I had to bridge the low brake connector to get it running.

Connect the two pins of the low brake plug with a cable.

Lol someone online is offering support for these controllers on Facebook.

He calls himself " FARDRIVER" and says he represents fthe company.

He was charging 30$ for an email and 50$ for a phone call...: but, this morning he got pissed off ( at technical inquiries) and changed that to 300$ for email support and 500$ for a telephone call support.

Lol. GTFOH.

Do you have a link to the facebook page?

Hmmm if you pull the throttle does it beep without being in self learning? If so, you should try disabling these two options to see if it could be the cause of the beeps. First check the brake option and put to disable. Then check PC13 option and put to disable. Test the throttle after. You may have some wires swapped somewhere as well. But try disabling the options above to test.
