New Crystalyte Motor series (HT35 / HS35 and HT24 / HS24)

That's a HS3540 running 60A, but we are seeing instantaneous peaks of up to 100A before the controller backs it down to 60A.
I think it is all due to the 20" wheel, I have one in a 24" wheel with a hookworm 2.5" tyre in my trike and do not see this intense kick when you start to open the throttle. I expect that if you forward mounted the batteries it would help too.

The starting technique is to stand on the peddles and lean forward between the handle bars and be gentle.

don't try to mount shimano ice tech disks on a HS35 ... doesn't work. diameter of the inner hole is smaller than the wiring socket and the stamped outer diameter on the back side of the disk is smaller than the 6 hole mounts of the HS35.

lucky me i have more bikes and was able the switch disks and mount the ice tech 203mm disk on my all mountain and grab it's magura 203mm disk for the ebike...

Does the HS3540 need a freewheel spacer when installing a freewheel?
Also what is the maximum size of freewheel to avoid chain rubbing against dopout?

Thanks!
Yes you need a freewheel spacer, I believe that may be the case with all crystalyte hubbies? In my 135mm dropout, I was happily able to put a 7 speed freewheel on the motor, without having stretch the dropout.

Thanks you!

Can HS3540 handle 4kW peaks without burning windings?

I have sold my HS3540 (never installed)
Now I am looking for HS or HT motor, my Magic Pie III is laying in the trash bin

that depends on your definition of 'peaks'. very short ones, on occasion, yes - easily. but using an average of 1kw on my vented HT at 100v I can overheat it in half an hour (90+deg on wingdings) on a steady incline, 1-10% (mostly 1%). Peaks of 4.5kw.

Thanks! :D

I mean peaks when riding away, I like fast start (controller setting > in torque mode  ).
All these motor have slots for hall sensors, even when you buy one without this option?

Thanks! 8)

Depends on your wheel size i think. I ran 6kW peaks on my HS3548 constantly at 72v/90A. But that was in a 20" wheel. It was hard to get the motor hot.

In a 26" wheel it is going to be a different story. You can probably be fine with 4kW peaks, but sustained, you need to keep it below 2kW or eventually she'll burn up. Don't set your rig up to do more than high 30mph figures, or if you do, use a 3 speed switch limiter to keep it around those speeds.

Does anyone has the same problem?

The painting job is horrible and and the stator is rusty..... >>>new out box.
Also magnets are dirty and missing some edges....

Waauww quality could better.

When I peeked inside my motor, it was fine...... You buy it directly from Kenny or used from someone else? Water has no trouble at all getting into these motors. And then it doesn't leave.

But desgin is better compare to Goldenmotor...
Hmm. Guess you better change your name on here, your making yourself look bad

Hahha yup.

Motor new out of box a lot of problems:

Windings shaving against covers, some of windings are damaged.
Also I have noticed motor spokes holes are badly drilled, while looking at the pictures in this thread those spokes holes looks much better..... :?:
Cable loom is damaged, running hours is zero...

Do I have a bad/old version?

I can't confirm that. My 3540 fed with 6kW uphill gets super hot within a minute. (120C at the windings)
3kW is still nice to ride but keeps temp low. This is in a 20" rim as well.

gah, couldn't agree more!

for the quality they should be half the price, wish I had more access to 9C motors to compare but they aren't many down under.

regarding quality watch my thread about lateral trueness of the case:
http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=49257

Thanks for that, pretty much have the same issue (plus a few more things).

Going to monster it with a grinder or put it in a vice and lathe the side-cover down.

I'd be embarrassed to make such a low quality product, maybe we just get the seconds that are left over after a batch run.

i'm not sure if lathing the cover will solve the primary issue. i guess you will end with a super thin cover at some places. i guess they drilled the bearing holes in a slightly wrong angle. but when i rethink it: they probably didn't take any care when making those motors *ggg*
i must say that paint quality is really nice, and the inner parts are all done well as well. but the motor over all doesn't fit to our high quality standards. imagine a super cheap $300 chinese bike. why would they care about 1mm wobble if everything else falls apart when only looking at it?

what gauge wires are people getting in the ht3525 i bought some 10awg and theres no chance of getting it in.

Agree, I can see it now.
Some worker with a hammer trying to sit the bearing in place
Never seen or heard anyone complain of paint work issues, maybe a factory in the same area specializes in paint work

The domestic bikes I've used are bullet proof as they use cast rim and steel frame, HEAVY but soooooo tough.
Then again they're just scooters with single gear pedals :? they cost less than a crystalyte moto, lol

12awg with heat shrink tube will fit in easily. just use the smallest size heat shrink (pre-shrunk) you can get, as the bigger the pre-shrunk diameter, the thicker it will be when shrunk. i did it here http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=38848#p679207 with a 3540.
