A new fast lowracer recumbent trike coming soon!

Should I need a BLDC motor or not, that's the real question.....
Additional another problem with the weight and the place of batteries.

what is the gearing ? front # teeth ? rear # teeth ?

Awesome ! Save some room behind the seat for Lipo ! Either side of the frame= Lipopods  More pics please - looks fast..

I will try to make a test ride without an electric assistance. If that works well, so the calculated speed is about 50-55Km/h.....
New video coming soon! ....

your work still amazes me lowracer. i also saw the video of the kokam pack that you were building in my youtube subscriptions. will that make its way on this project somehow? :D

Yes, a brand new batterie pack with 20pcs Kokam 4500mAh. My destination 37V and 27Ah, so the result 1000Wh and 66C.
This batterie is a specially created for the Lowracer hybrid bike.

Here the video again:

I'm on dial-up. Can't see any video's. Pictures only. :(

that thing is awesome, how did u get that insane chain ring did u custom make it? so starting from 1st gear in the rear, is it easy to start pedaling without assist? how easy is it to cruise at that type of ratio when youre on your highest gear?

Pretty sure it is the one he made by hand from a saw blade?

Looks like what I've wanted to build for a while. How hard is it to get the headset placed correctly and welded in?

oh man i gotta try that! some chainrings are just retarded expensive, seen some even go for +$100 thats quite an original build u got there very ingenious solution

It's not easy! But make a try..... I made my chainring in about 3hours.
I ask a firm for a laser cut chainring, the price is very hot, about 600€.
Ok, I understand to create a new CNC programm, the design and the settings of cut machine and so on.....

Quick question LowRacer...how are you calculating the circumference of the saw blade so when
marking the teeth out you have the correct spacing all the way round? Is this a lil bit of trial and error?
Cut the circle mark the teeth see how it comes out if its not right cut a lil more off ?

Excellent job BTW, very impressive!

hey kim check this out, damm i had just seen this software n now i couldnt find it, but finally did, u specify teeth measures etc, and it gives u a printable pattern that you can then overlay and trace on metal

also found this stuff but not really sure what it means, sheldon brown has some similar stuff, i think to like calculate mph to ring size

You don't need to calculate the circumference, if you calculate you lose!!!
You take a NEW CHAINRING and sign the every teeth....
You can see that in the video where I've created
the 99teeth chainring!
Of course my favorite material is chrome-vanadium, so I'd never to change that chainring!

Sorry, no idea what your trying to say here mate, i have watched the video of you making the chain ring
several times, it shows nothing on how you workout what size disk to cut BEFORE you mark the teeth on, if i cut a
random circumference disk and then lay a new chain sprocket on it marking teeth all the way around
its hit or miss if you have the correct spacing when your marked teeth are drawn around the disk and come to
meet at the start point. If i ever make a chain ring, ill stick with the software it ensures the correct
size disk is cut in order to have the correct spacing for ALL the teeth..

LOL thanks Miles, i have no idea what anything after 'Pitch diameter = Pitch' means though  ..

I'll stick with the softwar just need to type in the number of
teeth you want on your sprocket & it makes you a printable scale
pattern to stick to your metal 'disk' ... tiz my kind of easy
