first my 6 year old detoured on his way home and i went looking on the trails around my small town for him just in case...about a km from home i snapped my rack off my bike and 500 bucks worth of lithium hit the ground worst possible time with my boy missing.
so i pedal my ass home with batteries and rack under my arm in the heat of the day.
get home just as my neighbor is dropping off my son...whew my heart rate finally mellows out i eat dinner then rip the bike apart...5 hours later its reconfigured to 3 yardworks bats in the triangle instead of 4 on the rack and also had to move the 9 fet infinion for room...pulled a few wires apart from the cheap stock connectors 1 phaze wire and 1 main power wire...fixed it and all good to go. hop on and off to tim hortons i go i need some java after this loooong night...just loving the speed of 62.4 volts again aswell as having better cg again need my disk brakes back on at these illegal speeds...
2 blocks from timmie's it cuts out no biggie just reset and go again for

half a block it cuts out again shit , now i no there is a problem quick check of my bats
shows one is lower than the rest so maybe just maybe its just hittin the lvc on the bat so i reset and made it 10 meters now i get nothing but did enjoy my coffee but not pedaling my bike for the second time today(man i'm out of shape) i guess stevo will be getting my controller even sooner than i thought oh well now i can try 83.2 volts and more amps...
always looking for that silver lining

thats the kind of day i had hope yours was better

you recovered pretty good.

is it possible your controller is still thinking you have the 4 packs and it has too much input resistor and dragging the 12V rail down under load?

did you build the controller up to the 4 pack or did steveo do that for you? you may try using the 4th pack to see if it runs better.

then if you can establish that, but still wanna go to the 3 pack, try adjusting the input resistor back down a little. that will help keep the input to the regulator high enuff to keep your 12V rail in spec.

Wasp,

I feel for you brother... yesterday was my turn... Converting a Downtube 9FS to Hub 9C... couldn't find a freewheel for it, I did find a freewheel for another project i'm working on (ms edrive) but the reverse of what I needed.

When I went out to get this freewheel I used a 36v pack I had laying around since I had NO FREEWHEEL OR SPROCKET on the bike... You know what happened, I got there fine and then LVC on the controller cut in 1/2 way back...

Needless to say I pushed the 9FS with a spare wheel + batteries + new front tire + mc donalds (I'm sure this put it over the easy to push limit) + reverse freewheel (the one I don't need for this bike now, LH drive) + spare derailur + a bunch of other crap 2.5 miles home.

Atleast you could pedal, you got your coffee, didn't blow yourself up and your son was fine! - (Silver lining and all)

As dnmun posted, it sounds like your just hitting the LVC for the 4 pack config.

Best of luck with the rebuild/repair!

-Mike

ya the 9 fet infinion is stock from jason and is giving me nothing
the 4 yardworks bats were 2s2p config 41.6 volts hot off charger
when i rewired for 3 bats (all that fits in triangle ) it was at 62.4 volts
i have ran this before with no problems but switch was crackling more than normal
its probably a blown cap...will send to stevo for repair and upgrades...
i consider myself lucky with 6000km without issue not even a flat
thx for replying mwkeefer btw love your posts on the infinion even though
i lack the nohow
peace brother

Damn man, at least your son made it home safely thats the main thing i got from the story.

Welcome to my world though, if it can possibly go wrong it does RARELY does anything goe right for me the first time and if it does not for long, I have THE worst luck, i more often than not buy something from a shop and have to return it coz it don't work out of the box :: sigh :: i believe this is hereditary my father had the same problem :-|

Wasp,

The 9 fet infineon from Jason should work NO PROBLEM at 62.4, I have run nearly 2000 mi now on an unmodded (sw, no hardware) infineon running 15S lipo @ 62.5 - 63v coming hot off the charger... Arch sparks like a Biatch but no other issues.

When you connect the power to the infineon do you get a spark?

On jasons controllers there are 2 red wires, a 12 guage and a thin perhaps 20guage line. The heavier wire is to be always connected to the main power source (ie: connected via normal plugs, andersons, gold plugs, whatever you use) but the thinner wire is also needed before the system will run.

That is the ignition sense wire on the infineons and must be connected to the same power source as the thick line before the infineon will respond to user throttle input...

If you didn't get smoke or a POP... the caps are probably fine, I can't see them or any other part in the infineon popping at 62.4v @ 22a (this is the factory current limit - I run between 30-60 through my controller with no issues) I would have to guess that either externally (perhaps the molex connector spades aren't connecting when you plug it in) or within the controller the thin secondary ignition power line has come loose.

That is just a guess but if you want to call me or do a PM flurry we can try to diagnose it before sending it out to Stevo. Actually we might do the forum a justice and debug the issue here in the open (it would help others down the road).

Thanks for the kind words on the postings, I try to do what I can... where I can, when time permits = )

Seriously I don't think the controller went bad... I think it's wiring, no way those voltage levels would cause issue... at the old 43v that's what the e-bikekit.com LiFePo4 36v battery reads off the charger (doesn't stay there long) but like I said... I have nearly 2000 miles running at 63v and upwards of 3x the amps you can muster (my total wattage maximum - only tested once was: 4536 watts @ 63v @ 72A - that's 6.048hp for you gassers!) and my UN MODIFIED infineon controller is still going strong wiht no signs of wear and tear.

You, too? That's yet another reason I use other people's discards. They already broke whatever is going to go wrong with it, so if the part I need still works when *I* get it, it'll probably last forever. ;)

HAHA maaate i tell you i can't take a bloody trick at times i have goitten used to it now but still i have to shake my head at times. What fun would it be if it was always smooth sailing though that would be boring....be nice once in awhile though LoL
