Howdy,
I wish to now have pedal assist on my 48v LY set up I have run for 2 years because I now realise I prefer to pedal even if I get enough exercise from working as a sparky. I fitted a crank sensor (salvaged from a 36v bike, should be ok though?) which plugged straight into my controller however the pas is not working. The handlebar power switch/throttle unit doesn't have a power select facility so is this the reason? I looked at another switch from the 36volt bike which has the 3 power options however the leads are not compatable with my controller.
Help I'm clueless!
The last photo is the salvaged power switch (not sure the terminology)

Thanks :)

You might have to adjust how you attached the sensor. The disk has to spin in the right direction, relative to the sensor. The disk might be mounted wrong too. The magnetic field must point in the right direction at the sensor, Try flipping the disk.

To check the PAS function you can lift the back wheel and turn the pedals in the forward and backward directions to see if it responds. Is there a led indicator on the PAS pickup? I assume it the normal three wire sensor, do you know if you are plugged into the right connector on the controller looks OK but? Something like the PAS in the photo has a led indicator and are not that dear. Have you got the original instruction book for the kit?

Finally, no standard for the PAS connectors. You often have to debug that too. Three wires, power, signal, and ground from the controller. Power and ground usually are red/black. If you try to figure out by voltage, the power line is often at 4.4V while the signal is at 5.0V. They put a diode on the power line, so it's lower than 5V,

Yep, had to rewire a connector and also change a connector from female to male before now. Also that's why I like the PAS sensors with the builtin LED indicator. So we have red (power), green (signal) and black (ground) wires by the looks of it, as previous you can get brown (power), yellow (signal) and black (ground) wires
