It doesn't let me change the type of file is just lets me change the name so the file type stays as a Data Source Name.... Maybe there is something I don't know how to do in windows 7....?

in xp there is a setting for that.

not sure where to find it on win7, but here is a screenshot from xp

I think the problem is in the freeroute program it will not save it keeps trying to open files instead of saving. When I click File > Export Specctra Session File it gives me this window with no save tab but a open tab.

Some days I just want to Smash all my computer stuff and go live in a cabin in the woods! :pancake:

Ok so I renamed some pins and im still resaving over modified folders Java for some reason will not save a new file I have to save over an old file... :|
But I got it down to this. If I could get the file to save right I know I would have it working.

It sounds like they ahve simply disabled the save functionality in the freeware version--that' not uncommon. :(
It was my fault I had traces that the DRC would not alow. Its funny it would not tell me before I tried to auto rought.

Anyways Just about done. Im making it to have H out and return on one side and Low out and return on the other to work with my mega cotnroller and then there is room for 6 To220 fets per H bridge Here is How far I am almost there! :)

I think you are missing the board limits, you should place these. There's a layer for that (I don't have it here and can't remember the name, but I think it's easy to spot), where you place lines marking the board limits (in this case you would just place a rectangle around the stuff). You don't have to place your board on the "top left corner", it can be anywhere, the fab house will look for the board limits.

Your right I did forget that. Thanks!

Each and every PCB designer will have his or her own priorities, linking and disliking on this matter. Some are die hard Eagle fans, some like express PCB but if you actually want a free software, I don't think there's any better option than design spark. It actually is very easy to use. Although the library isn't hugely populated but you can create your own footprints and it's nearly as easy as MS Paint. Also, the online community is exponentially growing with each day. If you want to do your PCBs more professionally and need a paid software, I think OrCAD is better opinion than the rest because of its versatility. One can design any type of PCB is it, ranging from hobby PCBs to professional, multilayered high-speed PCB designs. In the end, it's up to you and what you like. I'd suggest choosing a software carefully because once you get used to it, you won't be able to shift to other software easily.
