What is the difference in phase and rated current. Im running a lyen 12 fet and a ebikekit 9c motor. Lyen has suggested not to run more then 75v or 65 amps (not to exceed 3500 watts) with that motor. When programming my controller with my usb from my computer theres phase and rated current. Would I set them both at 65. What is the definition of phase or rated current. My CA has a amp limit built in. Does that limit phase or rated current.

Rated current is the the battery side amperage. At low speed, the controller can increase the amperage and reduce the voltage via switching the outputs to the motor on and off in the Khz range, this higher current is the "phase" current. Good rule of thumb is phase current is 1.5-2.5 times the battery current.

So what current would I use to determine my watts from controller. volts x rated current or volts x phase current. And if I was advised to not go over 65 amps with my 9c would I keep the rated current at 65 and phase a 1.5-2.5 times higher.

I'd flash the controller to 60A Rated, 100A Phase.

You measure the motors power off the 'rated', which is what is consumed from the battery.
