"BRUSSELS, Belgium - In its recently published proposal for a review of the type-approval of two- or three-wheel vehicles, the European Commission did not accept the appeal for increasing the power limit for pedal assisted bicycles. The European Twowheel Retailers’ Association (ETRA) pleaded for an increase from 250 to 500 Watt for electric bicycles that are excluded from the type-approval procedure."

ugh, at least you're quasi legal there. Here, my electric bike is considered as legal to drive down the street as a motorized barstool...

Legitimate business are easier to track and tax. Garage businesses that are known through chat-forums can produce those things that are desired, but ignored by big corporations.

I foresee an increase in 250W labels for motors (NOT...250W motors,...just...250W LABELS). Then, an increase of 24V/48V series/parallel switching battery-packs activated by a magnetic ring on the throttle, or hidden hall-switch. (Oh no, officer,...its 24V...see?)

perhaps also 50mm RC-motors driving a reduction to the Bottom-Brackets to give the motors some gears (look...its so tiny and cute!).

Will the EU-police begin carrying volt-meters?

The trick has always been to make your bike look like a bike.

Outrunner and RC are fine....but you won't fool anyone with them.

Hub motors, visible cranksets, cassettes, frame builds etc, is the only way to keep trucking and avoid getting pulled up.

Theres a thread around here somewhere - a pretty liberal ebike law passed the NYS house and was/is now in the Senate?

Like 1000W 20mph and, If i remember right, nothing to keep the motor from helping as you pedal beyond 20.
