I'm about to start my first ev project,Diggler fs,72v lipo4,crystalyte 5 series.I Don't know a whole lot about this stuff yet so i have a stupid question for you, what determines the watts you are running in your set up,does the controler limit that?If so are there any programable controlers out there?

Jason.

Main limit is the controller. It will limit the amperage to protect the system as a whole, so you multiply your voltage by your controller's limit to get watts.

There are programmable controllers, but they're usually for much higher-powered systems than what we use here. Very few have them, and the ones that do are running motors like the Etek-R's or brushless Mars motors.

I want 40Mph,mainly street but I'm sure i will beat on it off road a lot too...I also want Lots of power,is spin the tires power possible with a 5 series?I Come from a Mx backround so i will be dissapointed if it is tame.

*EDIT*..35Mph minimum, would settle for that if it made a big diference in power usage.40 would be ideal though.

BTW,i meant to ask as the original question what determines Amps, not watts.Opps.

I was thinking along the lines of 72v 10Ah,but i guess i need 20Ah.ok.Are any packs sold in that configuration? One charger would be nice.

It's done,I'm goint to buy the scooter first,them motor and controler,then batteries.starting with a 48v 20Ah,adding another later to be at 96v.
Should start soon i am selling a 50cc scooter this week.

For comparrison sakes, my 48 volt 12 ah bike will out accellorate a 50cc mini bike, with some peddalling of course because I'm racing.

That's faster than i thought it would be at 48v,who knows maybe i will be happy with 48v..if not i will but more packs, probably will anyway for more range.
