Raising charging rate on Soneil charger

I am using a Soneil charger for my Ping batteries. It's rated at 3.5 amps. I already had to raise the voltage to 60.5 from 57.5 that it came from Electricrider that was LiFePo specific. This was achieved via a tunable pot inside the charger. Near this was another tunable pot that was epoxied over. Looks like it would be nothing to peel this epoxy off and adjust this one too. I am making the assumption that this is the amperage output adjustment. I'm not at home so I can't take pics. right now. Does anyone know if this might be the case before I peel this off and try it?
Secondly Pings has stated a 5 amp max charge for the 15 Ah battery and I believe the 10 Ah also. If I go to 5 amps am I asking for trouble or is this more commonly done than I realize?
I want to raise my charge rate for a possible cross country run using opportunity charging where I can. This could allow me more travel time during a day. Thanks once again in advance...

The Ping BMS has a charge FET on it, that allows only limited charge current. I tried it with 10-15A and it got so hot, that the shrink tube melted.
If you don't plan a full charge during your cross country trips, its possible to fast-charge directly through the battery connectors. But then you don't have OVP!

That's exactly what I needed to know thanks for that. Ran 42 miles averaging 22 mph using 24 Ah this took 4 hrs. 35 mins. to charge. That's charging the the 10 Ah battery at 2 amps with the Ping charger and the 15 Ah with the Soneil at 3.5 amps. Not too bad. They both finish about the same time. Maybe I'll only raise the the Soneil to 4.5 amps. Thanks again
