I just got done doing another ebike. One of my sponsors commisioned me to make this one for them. Picked up a 14" framed Raleigh beach cruiser bicycle. Put on the 9 continents rear hub motor kit from http://www.e-bikekit.com/. The kit came with the motor laced into a 26" rim, controller, throttle, matching left side grip, and brake levers with brake switches. They had it on closeout because of the offset issues this design had. I took the motor down to a local bike shop, the same shop I bought the Raleigh from, and had them dish the rim for me. Since it was going to a sponsor, I wanted to make sure it was really done right. I bought a rear rack from the same shop. I ended up getting a 48v10ah lifepo4 battery pack. After originally getting it running and a few test rides, I found some issues that needed to be addressed. I originally put a full twist grip throttle on it, that is what I am used to and that is what the sponsor requested. However, after letting 3 people test ride it, and two crashes, I talked it over with the sponsor and we decided to go with a thumb throttle. Both crahses were from newbies riding it. They came to a stop and were trying to turn the bike around and accidently twisted the throttle while trying to move the bars. The bike wheelies really good when no one is sitting on it. :lol: Since the sponsor will more then likely be letting people ride it to sample it, we decided the best bet for newbies was the thumb throttle. Also found out that my method of mounting the batteries didn't hold up to crashing, so I got a bike bag to help secure it in place. I installed a cycle analyst and did some more testing. Got it going 31mph on the flat. I took some data, but ended up leaving the data at the shop and don't have it in front of me right now. Went for a 6 mile ride and the voltage was still at 49v.
