Wrapping up on my grocery getter project. Attached are two photos.
There is plenty of room for grocery, but I would like to think that one day, It'll be filled with batteries and perhaps a solar panel for that special trip.

Specs and Costs:
trike: 100$ craigslist
"trunk/seat" : 18$ walmart
1000 watt brushless motor-wheel and controller: around 300$ ebay
48V 15 Ahr LiFePO4 pack: around 300$ ebay.
scrap plywood and about 10$ worth of bolts and brackets and a 2$ key-switch.
It reaches the legal limit here in AZ (20 mph), and draw about 10 amp on a flat cruise.

Fancy meeting you here!

Interesting way to do the cargo pod/battery box. Plans to put a comfy seat cover on it?

How has your sidecar-type "sling" trike worked out?

looks like a good idea. When I was using a schwinn trike, I had problems with occasionally launching my cargo out of the basket on a big bump. Not a problem as fast as I could pedal the thing, about 12 mph, but when I put 48v sla's on it I was hitting 30 when hot off the charger. I had put a homemade box under the basket to carry battteries leaving the basket empty for cargo.

Nice, I've always wanted to build a trike for my wife, the problem is the distance between the back wheels, (to get through doors)
I have read (i think) all dogman's posts to see how he handles his, and what type of motor and batteries he uses.
it's good to see another one of these being done.

I need a very short distance between both back wheels, but then i think how easy it would be for my wife to tip it over on turns.

If you are willing to use a tadpole trike (2F 1R) instead of delta (1F 2R) then you can probably make it narrower with less worry about tipping, if you keep the center of gravity low enough, especially by using a low-slung seat, like a recumbent or semi-recumbent rather than a saddle.

My ARTOO trike will be only as wide as a wheelchair, if I can manage it, so that I can both fit it thru the house door and so that I can pass between anti-car posts that are across the entrances to many bike trails and paths. See my latest post over on the ARTOO thread for more stuff about that.

I think the schwinn can fit through a 36" door. I didn't ride my trike much, at about 500 miles I removed the back wheels, and converted it into a stretch cruiser. Now it's in the pile of bikes not being used because it hurt my back to ride it more than 10 miles.

Time to put a 'bent seat on it then. ;) Mesh stretched across tube frame gives nice suspension.
It's actually quite comfortable as is. I've ridden on it for more than an hour without any problem. The plastic is pretty flexible, much more so than a typical bike saddle; and the large surface spreads out the stress.

Good job on the trike. I like trikes and bye the way the schwinn trikes are only 30in wide. Ihave 2 schwinn trikes like dogmans trike and i am in the process of making my new VECTRIX ELECTRIC SCOOTER into a trike of sorts. :D :D :D :D
