Hi,

I bought a S12S controller with S-Lcd 3 from bmsbattery.

I have a bafang cst 500W 36V and a 36V 22Ah 10s battery (18650).

I connect all the cables, but when I power on the S-LCD 3 the battery indicator is almost empty (volt are 41).

I think that It recognize as 48v, but I need 36V. I've read the manual, but I can't find a solution.

How can I fix this problem?

Thank you.
Diana

I think voltage detection is supposed to be automatic, and it's the same with the controller. It's always been a mystery to me how they know whether you have a charged 36v battery or discharged 48v one. If you put it in the range where it can't make a mistake, it might get it right. That means run your bike until the voltage is much lower, then disconnect the battery, leave it for a few seconds and reconnect it.

I'm thinking that your controller might also think 48v, so it'll cut out at about 40v.

There's an advanced setting parameter (P5?) that controlls the damping of the battery charge display. Don't change that. It's the parameter where they give some sort of incomprehensible formula to explain how to set it.

The bbs2 is a bit weird like that, turn it on and it says the battery id empty, then all of a sudden its full.

I think it's because there's some sort of damping algorithm in the software to stop it going up and down all the time with the actual battery voltage, which makes it behave more like a fuel guage than a voltmeter.

Yeah I built my self a S11 4P 18650 pack because I felt 36v is too slow but 48v is too fast/inefficient use of battery.
So when I plug in my pack charged it comes up with 2bars left after riding a few KM the 2 bars disappear to 0 and it starts to turn off. I merely turn the LCD display off and on again and I got full bars because it now thinks I have a super duper charged 36volt pack.
