Schwinn chopper ebike buildup questions

Lipo porn rules  Thanks Lipoforever, I never heard of Autosol. I will look into that. But now I'd settle for an Ebike kit under the tree from the bearded one.

Hi Brian,

Whatever way/type of batts you end up choosing! I thought you might like to see this batt box. I found this while searching spoilers and saved off the pictures but sadly not the link  so im buggered if I know how the guy made the box. I plan to copy this battery box design for my spoiler.

Battery Box.

Hello TC, I really tried to find that box, but no go. I found another Espoiler called The Toecutter. But there's only one pic and it's small. :( No real detail on the build either.

If you're going to get a rear wheel for your Stingray OCC from eBay, why not get a 20" OCC wheel? There's one there for $20, with the tire. Pic looks pretty good (on eBay - not eBay Motors - search "schwinn OCC").

It just seems like it would be easier to lace a 20" wheel than a 17" moto wheel (and lighter to carry it up those steps you mention), but I could be all wrong.

HAHAHA!!! Don't you ever sleep! John doesn't like the poor quality of the stock Schwinn rim. I'm not a wheelwright yet but I prefer chrome to anodized aluminum any day. He also said something about the spoke angle for the Schwinn rim not matching up to the hub motor. I am planning on getting a Clyte 408 on a deal, and sending it straight to JRH for laceup to a chrome rim with 12g spokes. He hasn't said anything yet, but I'm hopeing he can get that tire in the pic, I displayed earlier as well. I'm a stocky 210 Lb 5' 6" dude, and the bike will be close to 100Lbs when done. I need strong stuff under me to survive the lumpy roads here. I'm planning on replacing the front 14g spokes with 12g as well.

Plus, there's no substitute for chrome. 8)

The one in the pic is for a 16" rim, which we may need to use because of the clearance in your frame. We can get it worked out one way or another. The most important thing is a safe wheel before good looks IMO.

I take back my comment about the turnigy packs. The ones I had bad luck with are the "flightmax" version.

Probably not enough. But, John has way, way more experience with these than I, which is only my bike (which I'm still learning things about - who has that quote in his sig about experience being a tough teacher? ). All I know is that I have ballooned out to about 250 lb (115 kg sounds so much better), and the rear wheel hasn't collapsed under me yet - cross your fingers.

Some rims to peruse.

That 16x2 (second ebay link) looks pimp! I wonder the hole diamter I have some chrome 1.45's here too that are nice and light and $40.

I read through the thread. Those are some very nice looking choppers. I like the flat bars a lot. I can definitely make those torque arms for you. I can't quite make out the measurements for the two bolt holes in the lower pic and I'm not seeing any locating dimensions for the bolt hole in the upper pic.

Making those out of 1/2 and 3/8 thick stainless wouldn't be nearly as expensive as I thought. For some reason I thought they needed to be longer overall. I'll need to order about $30-40 of nice t304 stainless stock from speedy metals to build them so how about $100 for both arms, chamfered, polished and shipped?

If that will work for you, send me some higher res pics with dimensions on the bolt holes and I'll send you back some cad drawings for final approval. You can even print them out, cut them out, and hold them up to the frame to make sure everything lines up. Just let me know. It's a neat build. I'd love to be a part of it.
:D

You can hijack my thread anytime you want Tom! Us Echopper guys gotta stick together. Sorry if things look lame here. I really can't make much progress until January when money becomes available. I would have had a nice winter scene to post tonight but my cellphone camera sucks in low light. The river is partially frozen over with the lights of the city shining over the steel grey and black surface was awe inspiring.

Great minds think alike. I wanted to take a cycle up to my local fishing hole (Gartmorn Dam. google it for pics.) and take a few pics but with all the snow were having it was impossible. I think I would have got some neat shots of the dam surroundings in winter.

I wish I could. It's in New Hampshire on the East coast of the country. I'm in Wisconsin near the Great Lakes. Too far to walk, and too far to ride the bike back. I just thought with the rareness of the bike that someone on here might take a crack at it. I would but he said no shipping, you gotta go get it. I gotta get ahold of Ypedal anyways. I told him I was gonna buy a Crystalite 408 with a nine inch axle from him next week anyway. Gotta get that sent to John for laceup into a rim with 12g spokes. That's for next month. Then comes tourqe arms, controller, batteries, CA, and CLuminator. Should have it about finished in time for Christmas 2011. Talkin bout spoilin the Spoiler! I think I'll try for an Ebike kit for the Runt. Or mabye the kit from Ampedbikes that Cameron has on his XL. Cheap and easy setup so I can ride this summer.
Brian L.

Thank you Texaspyro for responding. You are absolutely, the XL definitely needs some LIPO LECKY LOVE. It also needs to be gifted to my livingroom! Yesterday on the Rock river, standing on the Veterans Memorial Ave. bridge. No bike but a challenge just to walk.

I was on a milk and soda run. Sorry for the low quality, my blue camera battery died, so I had to resort to the cell phone 1.5mp cam. Happy Holidays.

Got a flat tire on that river bike trail, grrr. Nice shot of the hospital. Thats where we watch the fireworks from.

Thanks man, I used to guard the launch site on the Fourth with my fellow ham radio buddies on the trail. I just sent an email to Crystalite about getting an X5 with an extended rear axle. I hope they can help out. I got a suspicion that the X408 from Yguy will be a tad too slow for me. But what do I know!
Happy Holidays.
