Schwinn chopper ebike buildup questions

Kinda reminds me of the head of an alien from "Aliens"
Scary, but cool! (Both the movie and your bike!) heh

Yeah, the bike already looks like it has a mind of it's own. Glad you were able to enjoy those. I will try harder to keep the pics bright. The bike will look even better with a custom battery box, Sportster gastank storage area, sadle bags, factory Harley mirrors, and LED signals. Most of the pics I posted are available above 640x480 res. So if you want any in full size, let me know, and I can send them via email. Thanks for looking.

If you could tell me where to find that windshield and the appropriate hardware to attach it, I would be very appreciative.

The link for the fairing, and the one for the brackets are here.

aha some custom work being done on the big chopper. I cant say im keen on the fairing look but it may grow on me once I see better pictures of the full setup outdoors.

I managed to find a local turner and got him to fabricate up a piece that slips inside my bb cup. I got my mate to put a few tack welds on to hold it. I'll post some pics up on my thread soon. I busy making up a plate to hold my motor, hopefully have it done by tomorrow.

Tom

+1 looks way to big for the bike as a result the placement looks too high...IMO Pit bike fairings look
better fit i think, i had one here i found kerbside, cut the sides off it it looks just like the fairing on the SOA bikes
then you just need the drag bars atop the enormously high rises they have on the SOA bikes LoL.

OT:- Also a HUGE fan of Sons of Anarchy (but not the bikes, they are FAIL for a "Bikie Harley") i wasn't even aware of the show till 2 days before Easter, it has stared to be advertised to air on TV in OZ...searched net, download season 1, 2 and 3 from fav torrent site & sat down watched every episode back to back over the easter long weekend
was like reading a good book, couldn't stop watching haha what a final ep in season 3 it was too! the FBI biatch finally got
what she deserved hehehe...

Yeah, Howdy TC,it's big, the size I want is over $250. Not in the budget this year. It will look better with a set of Cycleluminators sticking out through the headlight hole, along with mirrors, blinkers, and chrome switch clusters off a Harley. As I write, the shop is making my tourqe arms, and a battery box is on order. Yeah, I figured the cafe look would draw flak from a few, but I hope to see reduced glare on the Cycla Analyst in daytime, and reduced headlight glare at night. It is a big obstruction to get used to at first, but I got beat out on the smaller vintage piece on Fleabay.
Hi Kim, It will require acurately measures and drilled holes in the fairing body, and the brackets to get it any lower and closer to the bars. As is, I can see the tip of the tire through the windscreen. Kick my and call me Jodi, I never thought about loking into a pit bike fairing. That's what I did here, I cut the bottom third off the body, bent the brackets, and wala! Instant SOA wannabee! 8) With Netflix I get the first two seasons streaming, but I gotta order the disks for season three. I thought Hale gave her what she deserved in his office in season one? He bent her over a desk quite nicely, I thought! Thanks guys!

happier with one ;)

I can't find a single entry for pit bikes. Bot much of an issue for me, but if I find a smaller one, I might use it on the Runt.
Kim, PM sent. For those who just want some light on the front.

I didn't say "Pit Bike" i said pocket bike BIG difference...Pit Bikes are moto-X style bikes they have no fairings
Pocket bikes are very small in comparison hence the fairing is much more suitable...

Personally i think just a solid coloured windshield from a pocket bike would be enough to get the SOA look

http://www.supertuning.be/pocket-bike-parts-windshield.php

Whole pocket bike fairings are cheap 35 bucks or so complete

Have your season 3 of SOA in the mail by days end :)

I got ya now Kim! Tou did so say Pit Bike. Just look up this page a bit. I'm only picking on you cause I like ya. And I got ya in a pickel. I didn't really know what the differences were. I had no interest in a bike that was too small for me. My right leg doesn't bend, so I need the stretch of a big bike. I like my big fairing. Thanks for all your help man. Cheers.

Once again the undead have moved across the earth with their neverending thirst for good brains. Thing is, this one has a penchant for creativity that belies my immediate instinct for self preservation! This is what I'm on about.

Runtharness.jpg

An excellent example of a 2Sx3P battery harness, that will be perfect for the Runt. Made by our very own undead one, Zombiess. 8) I didn't even have to cough up any flesh either, just some good green, $30. Not bad at all considering the cost of crimping tools, connectors, and wire. Next month I plan to feed the Zombiess even more, for a 4Sx5P harness that I'm sure will bring my thoroughly lifeless Spoiler a spark of life it has never known! I also sent some cabbage to another member for another Spoiler upgrade that will fill a void in dire need of filling. But not in a gay way!
Happy Mothers Day all.

Update, today I got a new bike pump and a set of toe clips to see if I can get some seat time in. I saw the tourqe arms at the machine shop and they look good. The only problem was they only did one of each. I gotta wait til they get them all done before I can pick them up.

tclip.jpg

Brian L.

Well today I tried out the toe clip idea and it failed. Pedaling is easier due to the left pedal being attached to the foot, but useing the highway peg for the right foot doesn't work on left hand turns, or when pedalling. Also, one foot isn't nearly enough thrust on a hil, and the strap is at it's limit lifting the pedal on the flats. Looks like I'm commited to electric power for motivation.

I'm glad the clips were cheap. Anybody want em? I'll let em go for $10 plus shipping. They cost $12 new and only one got used. :D

Update, After paying an ES member $200 for a battery box that was never sent, Paypal has decided to let him keep the money because it is considered a custom made item, and is therefore not covered under their buyer protection program. Dispite his lies to them and me, he gets to keep the money, and I get nothing. Now that everyone's happy, I will add that two sets of tourqe arms, for the front and rear of the OCC Runt have been delivered. The final set for the Spoiler are being finished. I have decided to build my own battery boxes, and other custom parts as I can not afford to be swindled by unscrupulous people. Pictures of the tourqe arms will be posted later today, after the camera is recharged. Thanks again to all who have helped me in this endeavor, and may God bless you all.

What a bummer, after him posting all thos pics of the Battbox and prasing his mate who built it, he then goes and rips you off. Should be ashamed of himself. Maybe this should be a little warning to ES members to pay half up front and half on completion of said object(s) sent from other ES members.

Choppers on hold the moment. I got a little work and this payed for 4 more batts and wire that arrived yesterday. PP accounts empty again :( but I have a few £ squirreled away for a rainy day. Thinking of getting a bigger motor, a 1000 watter if I can source one out.

I'll need to see if my mate can make me up a axle washer for the front wheel of my Spoiler as iv'e lost one?

Till next time, take care and dont go buying any dodgy goods

Hello TC, well it looks like I may get my money back after all. The day after Paypal decided to pay him, I emailed a few state officials where he lives. Within a day of that, I got an email from him and Paypal that a refund was being sent. He must have used a personal check to do it, as they are takeing three business days to process the deal. I know he's mad at me now, but I still want the box. What more can I do, I sent the cash, waited the three weeks he asked for, and when he failed to react I filed a dispute. Now I hear he has a mostly complete box he can't sell. I'm gonna wait til the money is in my account, and then I'll ask him if he wants to finish the deal or not. This time, COD. After I see pics of complete box, posted for sale onsite, and sent COD, he gets his asking price. I would even consider paying more. I don't need enemies, but people need to remember to keep their word. I know I'm just asking for more trouble from him, but I hate to see a deal go bad.
The only thing I can think of to do about your washer trouble is to have my machine shop duplicate a set of mine, and send them to you. The shipping would cost more than makeing them though. I checked all over Ebay, and elsewhere and found nothing but tires, tubes, and complete wheels built for the OCC bikes. When I took my bikes apart I found that the OCC front washer will fit the Spoiler axle and center the wheel. So you can order a OCC front hub from Ebay or elsewhere, and as long as the hardware is all there, you will get the washer we are after. But I wouldn't push too hard with the wrench. It is a lot smaller on the facing side that rests against the aluminum dropout. That should work until you can source a proper washer. I saw a wheel on Ebay for $40. USD.

That should help. I'll be back with more soon. The Spoiler tourqe arms should be in this week. Also I may take a shortcut and get the Stripper up and running as well in July!

It's official the money came in today. Four hours later it went to HKing for some Lipo. Specifically four of these babies.

Those are some sweet torque arms, did you make those or buy them. If you bought them, where from?

I was gonna save the shameless plug for when I had the Tourqe arms for the Spoiler in, but since you asked, they came special ordered from a local machine shop. Pearson Products 419 S Arch St. Janesville WI.
http://www.piersonproductsinc.com/html/contact_us.html
They cut my grade 8 washers for free, and made the complete set of tourqe arms from 1/2 inch cold steel, added the allen head fasteners, all for less than $150. Wait til you see the Spoiler arms, they took some work. I'll be going back there soon for custom made rear brake caliper mounts. Bruce is the man to see for this kind of stuff. He was so impressed with the idea that someone was building an electric bicycle, that he refused payment for the work on the washers, and cut me a heck of a break on the rest of the work. I know he saved me three times the money I spent. People like that are what motivates ya to reach for the stars. Their website is cool too. Thanks for looking Philistine, Happy Independance Day!
Brian L.

Sounds great Brian. I wish I knew they did torque arms. I'd have gone there and maybe saved a few bucks (although I'm very happy with the ones I got). In the future, I'll go there. Let me know when you are up and running. I'll zip over for a ride with you.

Adam

That will be a while Itchy, I still gotta set up rear disk brakes from scrath now. I still need a freewheel. 203mm rotor, vattery bags, and controller for the Spoiler. Next month is looking really good though for initial motor and lipo testing. My desktop blew a mainboard today. However I got a portable and my tourqe arms today. :D Pics comming.
