Hi all,
My club is trying to build an ebike with a Sevcon gen4 size 6 and a Zero ZF6 motor. As of right now we are having a decent bit of trouble getting it up and running. We've got DVT installed and running, but our controller doesn't seem to want to communicate over CAN.
As of now we have power to keyswitch, and the B- stud is grounded, pins 2 and 26 are bridged (to activate CAN termination resistor). We have the throttle wiper+supply, encoder sin/cos/power/ground, plugged in as well, although the motor phase leads aren't connected yet.
We also verified the CAN resistance to be 60 in parallel, so now our main question is what exactly is pre-operational for the sevcon? Our green led isn't turning on, but the controller is sending 5V to the throttle potentiometer supply, and the contactor output seems right to turn it on. We're pretty sure the precharge is all good, but does it want the line contactor closed to B+ to enter preop? Also during precharge, we were measuring ~20v (with 80V at keyswitch) between B+ and B- despite B+ not being connected? Is that normal behavior for a sevcon? So far we haven't wanted to connect our B+ since our battery pack is still being assembled, but we do have a 80V 7A tabletop power supply that we used to supply power to keyswitch as of now, and we could temporarily use it as main power for the controller.
TLDR: Does the Sevcon gen4 need Battery power to turn on or can it run during precharge, and when does the green LED finally turn on?
Thanks,
