After many months with no issues allowing me to concentrate on other projects, the Controller Smoked, stranding my wife half-way to the store.

Damage is not as bad as I have seen... but beyond what I can fix.

Two Questions for who-ever can repair these...

1) What is repair cost to just make it happy again ?

2) What is the UPGRADE cost to insert the other 6 MosFets to make it more robust?

Thanks for the input...

I am going to try to get the Kelly controller I had planned to use on the NEXT vehicle on-line in the mean time.

My guess is the time to repair it is so great that unless you can do it yourself, it would probably be cheaper to just get a new controller. That particular model has a really bad track record. You could try one of those Infineon controllers from Knuckles. I think those would be less likely to blow up.

I have a 48V 100A Kelly controller that was SUPPOSED to be for my next vehicle...

Looks like it is going in my Wife's vehicle now....

I feel your pain! That's exactly where my controller smoked a few months ago; the FETs go and the power plane and / or vias to the other side of the board blow. I had to repair them with solid copper wire and replace the two FETs, gate transistors and resistors, etc.

It just blew in the same place again today. I'm tossing it for an Infineon from Knuckles.
