Just some random stuff from my vacation trip to Uzbekistan, not necessarily related to anything here. Didn't know what to expect, but i like the country and people very much - very alive and interesting place, developing intensely and catching up with the rest of world like other former Soviet republics.
- chinese EVs are a thing here. I didn't expect anyone to use an EV, but they're getting popular. Main chinese brands like BYD, but also some less known. Nice, modern, good looking cars. Charging stations available in many places. Seems like people are choosing EVs even without special govt incentives, and despite the fact that gasoline/diesel is pretty cheap. No Teslas, though - just chinese.
- natural gas (CNG) is the fuel of choice for ICE owners. Looks like they have engine conversion figured out completely, not only passenger cars but even old diesel trucks are equipped with CNG tanks and run on gas. Apparently much cleaner than on diesel (no black smoke)
- regarding passenger ICE cars, 95% of them are Chevrolet. I don't know why, maybe Chevrolet got some sweet import deal with the govt, but it looks quite strange for one brand to dominate the whole market. Of course many of these Chevys are converted to CNG
- the cute general utility workhorse truck - Damas. If you dont drive a passenger car, you drive one of these. Really sweet looking mini truck, would be great if it were offered in Europe or US as an EV. I think this is also coming from GM. Very narrow and nimble, with these you can treat any 2 lane road as 4 lane! (as the locals do).
