Did you know the Democrats used their government majority to ban the Chinese in America? Not just illegal aliens, illegal to BE Chinese. neptronix, reddit is one of the dumbest, most ignorant, toxic, internet forums in the world. All of the internet forums are full of pretty crazy, delusional bad sorts. Say hello to the internet. But reddit is troll city for sure.

Things are the way they are because 6 corporations own 90% of the news media in the US. That is basically the long and the short of it. Of course, almost none of it is actually news, it's mainly propaganda and stories that help these corporations make money in their other ventures. I'd be willing to bet that many of them are heavily invested in war profiteering. Just ck out your online newspapers sometimes. Many of their so called news stories are thinly disguised ads. The problem is always at the top of the editorial food chain.

I haven't watched TV for probably 40 years, but I got this sublet right before everything crashed, and the tenant has antenna TV. The amount of violence on there is astounding! I'm sure that people that watch it regularly don't even see it, but it's in the news, the programs themselves ("comedies" set in Vietnam during a war, Nazis seen as bumbling wise guys in Hogan's Heroes, etc),Westerns that are nothing BUT violence, and on and on. The commercials and promos are violent too. None of this just happened by accident, it's cause and effect operating. The worst are the cop shows where the cops always get their man, and they're always the good guys....as if!

I know people that say the news is just reporting the stories but that is a lie. They report what they want us to see. There's a million good things happening out there. All this violence is instilled in us at birth with TV and now the internet. There's a reason why they call it "programming". FOX News makes a fortune pandering to the ignorant and racists among us, and keeps the programming coming. It's truly an Orwellian world out there these days in the media, but here at my place, in the real off line world, the wind blows, the trees bloom, and the birds sing. Life is pretty damn good.

Correct , 90 % of the news media in the U.S. is owned by 6 corporations , and it has been over 40+ years now that I
have known that that Corporate media is Brain Washing / Dumbing Down the Population with what they show and do not show . ( The Epoch Times and others talk about this fact often , others have shown this for many decades now )

Since you have not watched TV for 40 years there are some important things you should know,
Youtube is the best way to watch news programs, for many reasons , one of them being they typically only do a portion of the 1/2 hour or 1 hour news program.
Go to youtube and watch Fox News , the different programs for the next couple of weeks, what you will find is that they are have the least amount of Racism and are much less Bigoted than all the others ! So Calling them Racist is Wrong .

I see many Black People on Fox news all the time, anyone who tells you they are racist is lying to you.
Just one example, and there are many , go to the Gutifeld Show on June 2nd or perhaps it was the 3rd.
You will see Gutfield and others on his program, extremely upset at the death of a Black Retired Police Officer that was killed by one of the protesters . Where did you see this on all the other so called news media's , none of them.
I have seen many black people interviewed on Fox news.
They have Ben Carson on often, Many Black Officers , Candice Owen , and many other Black People as well.
Anyone who tells you Fox News is Racist is Lying to you. Watch it for yourself, you will see I am correct.
Go to youtube and watch Fox News segments for the next 2-4 weeks you will see and learn things you do not see on all the others , like for nearly 2 + years Fox explained how the so called Russian Collusion with President Trump , was a Scam by the Higher Ups in the DNC and others .
For over 2 years my Friend ! while all the other media outlets were lying about it. That is just one example , there are many others.
Look at how all the other news programs lied about the Covington College young men, only Fox News told the Truth .

So it's a good thing that people don't have to be trolled by television and can go to reddit instead. I notice you didn't complain about how biased CNN is,favoring their own brand of ignorance and racism. Why the obsession over FOX, the only one of the outlets that has actually gotten MUCH BETTER about fairness in the last decade? Did you know that Sean Hannity endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primaries and did a half hour special explaining myths that people believed about her?

Don't remember her name, she was an actress who also did some news, she offered a FOX editorial during the #HollywoodOhSoWhite debacle where she said something about how "We" (Her fellow blacks, by the way) get to celebrate their own brand of entertainment and fully integrating does away with BET, the Essence Awards (She was one of the winners on both) and something would be lost. The socalled liberals attacked. Are you capable of seeing who was wrong there?

Hey, watch it on 'Hogan's Heroes.' The only "Nazi" I remember was the Waffen S.S. Colonel who showed up occasionally and was obviously one (Of many in real life) who rode coattails to get where he was. The regulars were nonNazi Germans who were not sympathizers. It was even somewhat realistic for being a Luftwaffe camp, which was a much better place to be a prisoner and more human guards. Played by such real life Jews who escaped Nazi Germany as Werner Klemperer and John Banner. Oh, the Waffen S.S. colonel was also an escaped German Jew, as one of the prisoners was a French Jewish concentration camp survivor.

This is an example of when people trash TV it is more about their personal agenda. They call it "Programming" because they use the english language properly,programming is the only right word. You can't pander to people and program them, if you're pandering you're letting them program you. Excuse me, this is my field you're speaking of. Not that there's never Hollywood's propaganda. The predominance of gays, Democrats are saints and Republicans are devil worshippers, but the only complaints the left ever has is that Hollywood is not biased and dishonest ENOUGH.

Darn, I came here thinking,(my first mistake) this thread would actually have positive feedback, and sources. But I found just the same rhetoric, just a new place to drop it. OK, I'm going back to my cave now.

I'm sorry we have this toxic culture here where negative people are out-shouting anything good.
I'm still very unhappy about it and have generally stayed out of this subforum since. I once attempted to change this but got so much pushback that i gave up on that effort.

I've noticed that news sites that eschew fear mongering don't do well. A majority of people discouraged me from continuing covering medical breakthroughs on mine. I also could not find collaborators or financial support. So i'm also in conflict with a negative and cynical preferences for news that the general public has. It's truly frustrating. I'm keeping my site up as an archive of the effort i put in anyway.

Depends on the subreddit. Moderation styles vary. Information and support in a few subreddits saved my life many years ago.
Reddit is still benefiting me.

Indeed though.. reddit CAN have some of the most toxic users on the internet. I once posted a video about how some people can legitimately cure depression if it's a nutrient absorption issue.. my post was deleted for violating their rules about posting hopeful things. I was told by a member later that the subreddit is primarily for moping. I was shocked by that. /r/depression is a huge subreddit and they're doing the internet a huge disservice.

I still think there needs to be a place for those looking for hope. In many ways, our world is improving. But you wouldn't know it if you read most common news sources. That'a shame. I hope the public develops a thirst for the other side of the story some day.

No no no. Why is it only okay with so many people if the message is what THEY want it to be? Here we go, you guys are using the 'P' word again. That's nothing but another way of saying 'I'm right, you're wrong.' What is the basic message of the trolls? Pretty much that there's is the one true god. (We're going to hear more about that god Biden in the next few months. By god. I mean by BIDEN.)

So it's funny that it's okay with women usually when I make jokes as they start in a whining circle. Guys freak out, they don't understand why women get mad when they start suggesting 'Solutions' to the problems we know are never really solved while they're complaining. By joking I'm illustrating that they just want to get it off their chests. 'Positive' is not the panacea so many pretend it is.

But get used to it. People want to talk on and on about what's basically unfixable. The more you try to "Fix" that discussion, they more you'll just screw it up.

I just point out to Saagar that if he watched much local news, yes it was a lot of 'Pearl Clutching' during the riots. You hear a lot about "I shop at that store" as it's on the screen getting looted. Few people actually watch the self absorbed commentators such as Don Lemon that he mentions.
