Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Luke:
Glad you got it in a dyno motomoto!

The big spike at the beginning of the plot is dyno rpm sensor induced artifact. (i know that dyno well)

We need to get the hot rod sur-ron on the dyno. That would be interesting.

When I get mine done I will get some dyno pulls

Excuse my ignorance, but can you put an electric bike on a regular dyno like a Dyno Dynamics or Mustang?

If all the ICE compensation parameters are turned off you could, but every dyno reads differently. I would like to keep checking
the bikes on the same dyno, but if the stock setup is run as a baseline and then further modification are dyno'd on that same dyno, then a comparison could possibly be made.

Update from the DMV: they are okay registering it without a VIN number, but they want to see that it has a sticker that says that it complies with all applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards. They said all mopeds should have this. Does anyone know if the Sur Ron has a sticker like this? Could someone post pictures of what stickers their Sur Ron has?

The only stickers mine came with are decorative.

Is there a serial number plate or something like that?

Not that I know of. It has a serial number stamped on the frame (that is not a VIN) and a sticker with the same serial number and barcode.

Bummer. I think this means I'm not going to get the Sur-Ron since it doesn't seem likely that I could get away with using it on the street.

I've been commuting on an electric kick scooter (IMAX S1), and while it is great, I just want more power, speed and suspension!

I've been deciding between the Sur-Ron and the Dualtron Ultra. They seem to have similar performance specs and price. But I think I'm much more likely to be able to ride the dualtron on the road without being hassled because it looks like a toy. 🤣

The Sur-Ron looks great though. Anyone commuting on them on the roads successfully?

I did see that. I guess I hadn't considered it because I assume it will be registered as a full motorcycle, which would require me to get a Motorcycle license, motorcycle insurance and pay for motorcycle parking at work. On my campus, Mopeds are allowed to park at bike racks, but motorcycles must pay and park in approved spaces in parking garages that are far away from my office. :-(

It would be better since you could use the full 45 mph speed, but it wouldn't be fast enough to use any of the highways. Hmm.

I'll ask Luna if they are going to carry it.

Regarding EU distribution, i found out that there is also an exclusive dealer for Italy, i resume info & prices.
KSR Group dealer for Germany, Austria & Switzerland, France - https://www.eve.bike/light-bee/ - 4500Euro with EU lights & homologation, UK - https://epicstuff.co.uk/collections/e-bikes/products/sur-ron-electric-motocross-road-legal-electric-mountain-bike-pre-order - £4,450 EU homologated, Sweden - https://ridesurron.com/buy/ - 4300Euro (DNM USD-8S). For Italy the official exclusive dealer is Huracan Power https://www.huracanpower.com/racing/ - 5400Euro!
Romania will be small market, I am listing the Little Dragon at lowest price in Europe, with pre-orders, payment in advance. http://www.biciclete-electrice.com/Dragon-Fly / http://hot.ibikes.ro When Bultaco started to grow the distribution network i was their first dealer in East and Central Europe.

the street legal Sur-ron light bee has L1e certification.. so that is moped class power and speed.. but its "wire" restricted, so after registration all you would need to do to unleash full power, speed and both power modes is cut the restriction wire.. as long as you don't (get caught) speed on the streets then no one will know;) .. let us what you hear from luna about carrying the street legal version..

We have been trying to get hold of a sample of the road legal version ever since the first mention, and have been promised to receive a sample next shipment. We need to assess the compliance of the bike and see if Australia will comply for road use. If so we will supply.
We will update as soon as possible

Anyway, you may have missed some details about the prices you have listed. But you can't hide from Google. :D

The street legal version is listed at 46 000 Skr which are about 4500€
normal version costs 43 000 skr or about 4200€

Both 60V with quick charger. shipping to EU would add about 200€.

In sweden they have a sponsorship or premium for elecric vehicles. If you life there the moped would cost only about 3500€

IMO the prices are OK for what you will get.

So joined this forum as I am following the Sur Ron very very closely... It fits what I want out of an electric bike (mainly price lol). I have been eying the street legal version as I want to get this to ride around New Orleans were I live. There is no provision that allows a bike like this to just ride around freely... To the state its the same as riding a dirt bike with no plates... So I can only hope that the one with the VIN comes in soon. Even if its not street legal having just a VIN and a MSO or equivalent with that VIN I can get it street legal. I want this also to rip up some dirt from time to time... I actually emailed the guys from Denzel bikes about if their bikes will be coming with a VIN and they seemed clueless lol...Sent them some links from .gov sites talking about the who, what, when and where of VINs. Also I have read about this "Field weakening" and am clueless as I have been working on gas for a while and not much electrical background...

if u want to learn about electric and motors read this PDFs kind of useful if ur are looking to learn more explains some terminology used to do with motor design and fundamentals , posted as found useful myself trying to learn more on subject without doing electrical degree, field service gas tech too

Could somebody clear up some doubts of mine?

The homologated version comes just with the 48V/25Ah battery pack, DNM USD-8S fork and sinwave controller?
It's limited to 45 km/h via firmware, and you can't unlock it in any way at a later time?

I think you cut a wire and it un-restricts the performance.

Rix is correct, the Sur-ron homologated version is wire restricted so it can be easily derestricted by cutting the restriction wire to unlock both power modes and full power and speed.. it should be available in either / both battery configurations and be interchangeable between the available stock battery packs.. you can read more about the homologated Sur-ron light bee here :
