The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

If it's firmware, does it work to downgrade back to the version that didn't exhibit this? (assuming it's possible to do this; I haven't tried). Older firmware should be available from Grin (if it's not on the website you could see if they have a version they can send you). I looked in my folders and found these, if they're helpful

Also, there is a hardware issue with some older units, bad capacitors somewhere IIRC. You can contact Grin and see if yours is an affected unit.

On mine, I have had the fluctuating voltage and power fault when I use it on a battery with a BMS that isn't turning on the charge port (or turns it on then back off for whatever reason).
I want to put some customized profiles on the satiator which means I have to do it on my computer. Can anyone please tell me how that is done. I hook it up the way Grin says, click on the windows download and the window says extract but I get no further. It asks for a program to open it with, what would work.? Thanks

If you're talking about the satiator suite download on teh ebikes.ca site, it's self-extracting, so you don't need a program to do that.

To use it, the directions on the product info page below it indicate "The Windows version of this application is a self extracting archive that can be extracted and run from whatever folder you choose.".

My early 2018 Satiator GC360-4808 running firmware 1.039 is having issues. After short or long time a bright yellow line is appears on the further black screen. Or while charging the display turns completely off.

After removing the power lead and waiting a few minutes the Satiator most of the times comes back. A few times it shoots directly into the bright line mode.

What could be wrong with this Satiator?

PS The humidity behind the display might be caused by the 8-11ºC room temperature, and before taking this picture the charging process increased the internal temperature to 42ºC.

It's likely that the humidity (or damage/corrosion from it) is causing the problem, but if it isn't, the problem is likely to be the connection between screen and board; there's a thin cable that plugs into the board from the screen.

If the screen itself failed, Grin has replacements available (they come with a new front label too, AFAICR).

It's likely that the humidity (or damage/corrosion from it) is causing the problem,...
I think that the cause is the humidity inside the Cycle Satiator.

After moving the charger to a room with a temperature of 20 ºC, I am already charging 56 minutes at 5.5A, 267 watts and 47ºC inside the Satiator, with no problem at all.

I have never used the Satiator outdoor.

How to get rid of the humidity inside?

Update: 10 minutes later the Satiator turned off completely...

You know those little desssicant packets that come in various things that say DO NOT EAT? Open the satiator up (screws on the bottom under the feet, IIRC) and install the packets near the electronics, for one solution.

(there are many available dessicants if you don't have any of those lying around)

Or just opening it up and letting it dry out in a low-humidity warm environment would also work.

Moisture can get into "anything" over time, especially if it experiences significant heating/cooling cycles--as it heats up the air expands inside and pushes out via any break in a seal, or wiring, etc. As it cools down if there is moisture in the air it can get drawn inside as the pressure drops again.

Thanks, drying seems to improve things. I first dried the sillicagel for 2-3 hours. Then I put the Satiator in the pre-heated 60ºC (10% RH) oven for 20-30 minutes. At the end of the drying time I inserted five-six-ish small Silicagel packs inside. Closed the lid, while the charger was still in the open and warm oven door. The first 1 hour charge succeeded.

Hi, guys, I bought the satiator hoping to add 10 custom profiles. It came preloaded with 17, and it will allow me to add, edit, or delete 3 profiles. It won’t let me edit or delete the other 17. I contacted Grin, and they said I needed to purchase dongles and hook it up to my computer, so I made sure my pc had the latest drivers, and I put it in boot loader mode and got an error message every time I tried to connect. I ended up trying all 3 versions of the driver, plus the 2 my computer added during automatic updates and I had no luck. I just tried that process with my girlfriend’s Mac and it was still unable to connect. I really don’t know what else to try, I’m hoping someone at Grin would be willing to get on FaceTime with me to get it solved, but I’m wondering if there’s anything else I can try first?

Thanks!

What problem are you trying to solve with ten custom profiles? When I have a special need, I use a Meanwell HLG or other adjustable power supply. I'd like to add features to my Satiator to suit every battery I come across, but it's easier to use something else.

I’m trying to base my charging on my riding. If I need to ride a ton of miles, I’ll charge to 100%, if I’m only riding a few miles, I’ll charge it to 75%. I think you’re right about it being easier to use something else. I’m told the 72v model of the satiator allows users to add 3 custom profiles. A competing charger allows 4, and a power supply would allow me to put in any voltage and amperage I need. I feel like this charger would suit my needs if I could get it connected to a computer, maybe the dongle they sent is faulty
