Trouble shooting a Currie Izip

This bike is an IZIP Rapido, 2011 or 2012 model. The problem is that the motor cuts out right after pulling the throttle. I tested it on my lipo battery and it still does it, so the battery is fine (at 29.6v) 24v model. Disconnecting the ebrakes didn't make a difference either. Could it be hall sensor in the motor, or just a bad controller? (Bafang 8fun motor). I will prob try running a different motor on it, but the different connectors should make it fun....
