TSDZ2 conversion to TSDZ2B

I have 3 bikes with TSDZ2 motors and am considering either buying a TSDZ2B motor or converting one of my current ones, hence a number of questions.

1) I see it's possible to buy the double clutch spur gear and mating [presumably?] clutchless intermediate plastic compound gear as spare parts. Will these fit my older units, what are the changes that are needed if so? Will the new double clutch spur gear mate with the existing clutched intermediate compound gear? Additional potential failure mode I realise but all my motors have been 100% reliable to date - know I'm going to regret saying that..

2) When riding above the motor speed limit it seems to me that the extra drag experienced by the rider of a TSDZ2 comes only from the gear mesh loss between the spur gear and it's mating pinion, not from having to turn the motor faster when not it's not being powered?

3) Looking at the TSDZ2B there appears to be a generic offering and a 'Varstrom' branded one, what are the hardware differences between these two?

4) What firmware is installed on the TSDZ2B various versions, same or different, if so any advice?

Happy to have piecemeal answers, just identify which question is being addressed please

TIA..

I've never seen one in person, but here is a pic of the TSDZ8 crank gear, Compared to a TSDZ2, it looks completely different.

All three motors, TSDZ2, TSDZ2B, and TSDZ8 allow the pedals to spin faster than the motor, but on the TSDZ2B, I see the the pedals are only turning the inside of the big crank gear, There is a sprag clutch that allows the outside teeth to spin at a slower speed or no speed at all, I believe the TSDZ8 is the same. On the TSDZ2, you would be spinning the gear teeth, as well as the little gear that drives it,

I pedal my TSDZ2 a bit w/o power and it doesn't seem bad. When I opened it and the TSDZ2B up to grease the big gear, I was surprised at how much metal on the TSDZ2 has to spin, when I pedal unpowered.

Thanks for those thoughts docw, they align with what I thought was the case. The TSDZ8 is of course higher power so the different spur gear is to be expected.

OK, I've gone ahead and bought the dual freewheel TSDZ2B main gear, also a TSDZ2B motor kit, which turned out to be amazingly cheap in itself, but that's another story.

Here's the question, where can I buy a bog standard off-the-shelf TSDZ2B drive ring spider? Plenty willing to sell options, eg 4 bolt fixing and 130PCD for larger rings, but nobody offers a standard one. Am I missing something here?
