TSDZ2 seized feeling

About 600 miles in on this motor and at about 2 miles in to a 13 mile commute home it started making a really odd sound and then felt like it had been seized up. Turned the motor off and on flats bike rode mostly OK, obviously heavy though. With motor on it feels like it's resisting my input though.

Battery charged and screen working normally.

Does this sound like a familiar problem to anyone more knowledge than me?

In the main big TSDZ2 threads there is more detailed information, but one of the clutches or bearings between motor and cranks has probably failed.

I don't recall the specific thread titles, but they should be in this list
Probably this one

TSDZ2 or TSDZ2B? If you can pedal it with motor off, the clutch that disengages the motor is working, but that doesn't say much about the problem. Could be a motor problem, or it could be the gears after the motor.

There's a difference in the two motors. Rather than waste time speculating about the wrong motor, please ID whether its a TSDZ2B or TSDZ2 and also if you have a throttlem

Then the problem is probably on the left side of the motor. You probably have to look inside. Does motor turn the crank w/o funny sounds using the throttle if wheel is off the ground?

This video covers removal of the left side cover to replace the blue drive gear, but you can inspect it instead. It's really not hard. If you pull the cover first, and spin the motor with the throttle, you might be able to see if the motor is buzzing or if the plastic gear is seized. Everything else is metal and shouldn't before the plastic gear,

I have removed the gear on my motor to grease it. I had no problem pulling off cover or removing motor after 2 years of use.

Great reply, thank you. Will have a look tomorrow night and likely be back!

If the wheel is off the ground and using throttle, the wheel doesn't spin as quick as it once did and it feels a little laboured.

When I regreased mine, I remember pulling the pedal off and removing the mounting bracket. I see he didn't use that bracket, but you probably have that bracket like me.
.

I would just strip the motor unit down carefully, check the gears and bearings, have you ridden the bike in the extreme wet as you can get water inside the the unit. If you need parts make sure they are the correct motor. There are design differences but I have two bikes with the TSDZ2 and the other with the TSDZ2B, but I only ride them in light rain and have covered thousands of miles with only the extra axle bearing mod and the OSF mod.

Here is the differences, see attached. I also have fitted the TSDZ2B fixed reinforcing plates to my bikes with the TSDZ2 drives

The tear down is similar, but on the left side, the TSDZ2B has a white gear, while the TSDZ2 has a blue gear with a clutch inside it. The right side will show a different drive gear,

I didn't want to post a separate TSDZ2B and TSDZ2 videos, or waste time describing how the white gear has no sprag clutch while the blue gear does,

It could be the following,
- seized bearings on the motor bearings
- seized bearing on white gear or its drive gear
- melted white gear
- fried motor

Open up the left side and make sure all parts turn freely,

Yep, if one is systematic the strip-down is pretty straight foreword, you will find various YouTube videos showing the strip-down of the drive and info from the Tongsheng website with how do's.
