Using Reverse as an Electric Brake?

what does that mean dirty-d? are you talking about having some kind of variable transformer that has different sized coils for different voltage steps so you can alter the regen to suit different speeds?

if so sounds like a good idea to me :D do transformers like that exist?

i saw some transformers on maplin and there are some bridge rectifiers on ebay.

what is PWM ? everyone is using it but i don't know what it means.

we should have a e-bike jargon buster page!

Monster, Fecter put a glossary in the EV Basics section. Definitions aren't expanded yet, but PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulation. I believe it relates to the amount of on time versus off time the controler provides based on the throttle position. It's probably too complicated and technical for me to understand.

i'm gonna try Rassy's light bulb brake idea tomorrow accept with heaters instead of bulbs. i have the relay and the heaters, i'm just waiting for the anderson power poles to arrive now so that i don't have to solder the thick a$$ power cables.

i have made custom heating elements by wraping heating wire round a ceramic former. if there is some kind of link between the resistance and the braking ability then i can change the resistance to suit.

can't wait to have a no maintenance back brake! especially for when winter comes round with all that snow and ice.

you should try making 2 braking settings through the load and short circuit, it probably wont heat the motor up much unless you use it a lot in a short time.
