Weld Button Top instead of Flat top

Hi,
Helping a friend create a 10s3p for his skateboard yesterday when he showed up with button top batteries. I only have experience with flat top batteries. Tried to spot weld to the very small part of the positive button but the weld just made a hole in the button.

Any suggestions?

Solder it.
Button top has no danger of overheating the cell.

OK thanks. That is what I will do.

Also take a good look at the batteries before you build anything with them--some of the "button tops" are actually reshrunk garbage cells, like Ultrafire/etc., and the cap is just a plate that's been heatshrunk onto the cell end to cover the actual end where it's welds have been ripped out of a dead battery.

Yeah thanks ... The batteries are not in front of me right now but if I recall ... there was a clear (transparent) battery wrapper on top of another wrapper. Maybe they are used batteries. I will get my friend to closely examine (take apart) one cell to confirm.
