i tried to look on ebay for one and i ended up finding this:

Brings back memories! I never had such a nice bike, but I remember the banana seats!

Back in the 70's my ride was a custom odd ball made from a 'dragster' frame (Indi 500 IIRC)
26in front wheel 20in back wheel 3 speed sturmey archer with top bar gear shift, thought it was da bomb...
Didn't need me no wheelie bars either :p

EDiT: just went and flicked through the old photo albums,
still a couple of pics that haven't faded beyond recognition LOL
i think i'm ~9 in this pic so that would be 1977-8ish i think, in
my school uniform...YPedalMaN is going
to have a field day over this one, i'll never be able to pick on his odd
ball wheeled e-bikes again, least back in the 70's this was the craze
in OZ anywayz looked ridiculous then even more so now looking at it haha
..Malvern Star (Australian Bicycle comapny)
even released an odd ball, worth a pretty penny if you can find one
these days too ...

I was born in 78 !

And you still can't do a wheelie either :p

The majority of parts, frame wheels cranks came from the local tip (rubbish dump) too
used to LOVE riding to the tipo and scoring "new" parts for the bike, come home
get the steel wool and clean the rust off them haha ahhh the good ol days...hrmz..
i still scrounge and clean up parts i guess not much has changed, cept me
getting more handsome of course :p

You haven't listened to you're commercials very well!

*Wammo* "You can't do a real wheelie with out a wheelie bar!"

:p

Those were the days! I wish I had half your memories of building bicycles at that age! I was lucky enough to get a bike that worked handed down.

My father was usually the one finding something at the dump that needed a new home, but if I had the chance I'm sure I would have been doing something similar ... guess you could say I'm reliving my childhood now that I am cleaning up old steel and making things out of it for E-Bikes!

Remember these, Torker frames?

IMG_20111006_164536.jpg

Loved that bike the twin top tube was sweet, i think my next custom
will have a twin thin diameter twin tube top tube...

Definitely the good days when BMX was in its earlier years near every
kid riding a bike had a BMX..

Yeah I remember those odd balls, I had a 24'" wheel hong kong classic that we brought back while on holidays there when I was 8, by age 13 it had a banana seat and long sissy bar, 20" rear wheel extended cruiser type handle bars and paint job, no pics and it got pinched but the memory remains

Thongs?! now your age is showing!

I thought I was the only one still refusing to call them "flip flops"

Once had a friend doing a store run for the fire camp try to buy some for me and they pointed her to the lingerie!

Thats what we call them in Australia buddy always have, you Yanks are the only ones calling them flip flops...LoL
Double plug thongs is part of the un-official 'Aussie Uniform' IMHO, our Olympic team should wear thongs as part of their uniform, along
with a pair of blue stubby shorts and a blue tank top...
