How tall is your basement???

I've got a home theater as well. But only a 42 inch plasma in the basement. I wish the darn thing would break so I could get a 58 inch 1080p! 8)

We also have a small group that does a lot of high altitude hiking all summer and fall in the Rocky Mountains and usually climb one 14,000 foot peak a year. Our longest day hike so far is 20 miles round trip. But normally we like about 7 to 9 mile round trip. We get lots of good photos!

My other hobby is Micro Brews! 8)

Word. My Chinook hop bines are already like 5 feet tall! The Nuggets aren't as happy, but pushing 3+ feet. It's going to be a hoptastic brew season!

Used to be hardcore into paragliding until I got flushed from a gnarly thermal climbing over launch, fell 150' straight to the ground and shattered my right foot. Got really lucky there. Recovered fine over time, but now for some strange reason I have this intense fear of heights.

Go figure. :p

I've got a big LED DLP boob toob, spossed to be very efficient, but I have a feeling its not as watt frugal as the little CRT it replaced was. I really like working on ICE powered vehicles as a hobby..

Y, I've got a 200x project bike among the various two wheel basket cases.

For me I'd say dogs is the #1 hobby. I've got two " regular dogs" a bloodhound and a St Bernard. The other two bloodhounds are fosters that in a perfect world I'd find homes for, but now I'm stuck with. One hound just hates other dogs and has been known to actually eat them. The other is truly psycho and occasionally just snaps and bites the crap out of ya. At least he is biting soft enough now that I don't bleed anymore. I suppose that is some progress. One the upside, I haven't locked my house in 25 years. Thieves can't afford enough steak to distract my pack.
#2 hobby is flying hot air balloons. Not very eco I know, but totally addictive. I blow every cent I have or can borrow on it and don't care. Being a pilot in the Albuquerque Balloon Fesival is as good as it gets! With that many balloons in the sky at once, you definitely do some rubbing on each other up there. Nowdays there is just about no place left to land there, so you are ready to kiss the ground when you land every day. My balloon crew is usually me and about 6 girls.

The only way to fly. I'm far from the only balloon pilot with a girly crew.

I like windsurfing, mtb biking, and skiing. With our first child only ten months old, e-biking is my only outlet at the moment.

Windsurfing rocks! It just got shoved aside by balloons.

I'm a gamer. My body runs on caffeine and empty carbohydrates. :p

Also I bowl like 3 leagues a week. Then for like another 2+ hours afterward.

LOL @ the second pic of Ypedal's dog.

Also: OMG! My BAM (big-ass magnet ;)) got here just now. I can make needles dance from like 7" away.

It's not neodymium (only grade C8), but I'm still scared to try to stick it to the fridge.

Edited to keep image links intact.

Wind power. Strap the crew into a harness. Hook `em on to the trap and throw `em over the side...

p.s. hope yer monitor isn't CRT.

Nope. But, I got it close to it anyway. The damn thing's field is so big it was attracting whatever's inside the monitor. Good thing this one's not mine. Mine's a 1400 x 900. 8)

Also, you just reminded me...

I've gotten quite good at degaussing CRTs with other magnets, you know. :p

...

Me and my accursed love of novelty. I don't know why I bought this...

i skydive, white water raft, build planted aquarium(those with plants as focal point and 1 or 2 fish), RC monster truck. If only my area is more active in stuff like base jump and or bungee jump i would do it too. I really want to join stuff like hang glide and paraglide. Dunno if my entry level pay is enough for that.

I love moonlight walks, candle light dinners.........whoops, wrong online space. Actually, build model railroad stuff and swim. Have the (flubug) lately, and am doin nuttin. Cant go out sick in the noon day sun. Soon, though.

The thing about paragliding is that it's a huge up front cost, but essentially "free" after that... just transportation costs really. The gear will last you for many, many years if cared for properly. I paid around $5,000 for my whole setup including all the gizmo extra gadgets like Flytec variometer and GPS and such that aren't really that necessary. I got my rig in 2000 and sold the whole thing in 2006 for $2,250 after flying the snot out of it so it holds it's value pretty well also. It's an incredibly addicting activity, but it's not agro unless you want it to be. Soaring in lazy, fat thermals with local hawks at 22mph thousands of feet over the ground on a sunny afternoon is pretty close to heaven.

I would advise NOT cheaping out on flying gear... it is your life you're talking about here and you'll be bummed if you die from buying shitty gear. Don't even think about ebay etc. Go through a reputable flying school.

Good luck and be safe! Paragliding is 94% personal judgement, 3% weather, 2% luck and 1% skill.

interesting ebikes seem to attract the indoor types just as much as the outdoor types
I must say this is probably one of the most diverse group of people ive seen in a online forum
ps i consider my self a indoor computer/electronics type but most of my hobbies(ebike rc cars rc planes and a harley) force me out side how ironic

tyler you measure a screen diagonally and mine is 120 inches or 10 foot from corner to corner and has a 16:9 aspect ratio so the screen is about 8 foot wide and 5 foot tall and my basement ceilings are 8 foot tall
ps i did it on a shoestring budget
screen(on the internet)=400 bucks
projector(from sams club)=800 bucks
dvd plus surround sound amplifier with speakers(from wal mart)=200 bucks
having a movie theater in my basement=priceless
oops that sounds like somthing from a superbowl commerical doesnt it
sorry
