I'm looking into High Discharge Rate Lifepo4's for a portable 24V winch.
My first thought was using a 6cell 6AH hobby king pack, and if it was for me thats what i'd do.
As Lifepo4 is more stupid prof before BMS I was thinking thinking 20ah A123 pouch cells. That is quite the stepup in Watt hours.
Then looking around I see some diffrent sized cells like AHR32113 and then in pouch cell land on alibaba there are 8ah and 14ah cells.
But weight is the same so I'm thinking the smaller sizes are just really old 20ah cells...

So... anyone know whats real in 2025 for the defunct A123 ?

It looks like headway 38120 is the way to go, with a JK-BD6A8S10P BMS.
i'd expect that 3kg combo would peak around 2.2kw (loaded cell of 2.8V)
Is there any other viable LFP brands?

If you can get your hands on the A123 20Ah Lifepo pouch cells, they will do the job.

I used them to test my JK-B2A-24S-20P BMS and find it's limit.
500A 13seconds was too much for the bms.
Voltage drop at 400A was still ok.

My tests
