I have started hearing about LiMno4 batteries where I browse for LiFePo4 stuff.

The copy is saying that it has the same safety as LifePo4, but higher power density...

So far, I have only seen specs on one site... http://www.lionikbattery.com/liliz/lilipe.htm

What are these and are they really NEW or just marketing of an older idea?

Molicel claims their next gen LiMn cell will match LiFe in terms of cycle life and calendar life. Personally I can't wait to try them.

Right now, LiFePO4 is more economical because LiFe batteries last much longer than LiMn batteries. At some point in the future, LiMn may be more economical, if E-One Moli lives up to their marketing hype. Of course, by then some other technology may have become available...

LiMn are found in MIlwaukee Lithium batts.

Present LiMn (Moli) cells are rated a bit lower in terms of C rate for discharge compared to most LiFePO4. If the pack is large enough, this is not a problem.

Does this apply to average run of the mill LiFePO4 or are you specifically thinking of A123s/nano cells? I be shocked to hear that a basic prismatic LiFePO4 cell could out perform an emoli in terms of pure discharge.

(not that I would ever question your knowledge clearly... just trying to learn here).

also yardworks limn bats in prizmatic form...

Rigid 24v lithiums are identical 26700a emoli cell as the Milwaukee... just 6 instead of 7... different batt brains too so they are not interchangeable unfortunately.
