what is the battery chemistry?

it's on the sphere wiki, as existing but rare?

What are it's properties?

Also, on this site they say that have AC hub motor with variable torque? how does that work? Auto phase shifting? what?

Is this site legit, or just crazy talk with more snake oil?

It's a 14s 11ah NMC pack. Probably rated at 2-3C. 40 miles at 15mph isn't hard to do with a 14s rc lipo pack and 170lb rider either.

Darn, I was hoping someone who knew more would respond. Basically LiNiMnO2 is real, supposed to be cheaper and better energy density than the LiFePO4 but less stable and shorter lifespan.

These people have been using them for years.

There's not much more to know. They're NMC packs. The 15ah pack they have is rated for 35A constant, 52A burst, so they're basically 2C battery packs. What more do you want to know. NMC has been around for a number of years now. They're small and lightweight, but weak. No, not quite as weak as pouch lifepo4, but not much stronger. Their small size the and lighter weight is the only advantage I see in them over lifepo4. RC lipo is about the same size and weight, many times stronger, and a heck of a lot cheaper. But not as safe.
