What Lipo Charger Do You Like the Best?

How much is that $95 300w charger, once you have bought the power supply it needs and perhaps paid for postage each time? Double?

A 300w bulk charger and bms could be delivered for just the $95 giving you money in your pocket and saving hours of wire swapping time. While gaining 24/7 protection and the child proof charging complexity of a mobile phone.

If you had many bikes of different voltages then you could make a saving by charger sharing. It is a messy solution though, causing nearly all of the fires we see here.

If you come to sell, you won't want to let $200 in RC charging gear go, and most people wouldn't want to buy it. Or a bike without charger.

If the term BMS is not computing, It's like this.. You buy the 12s RC charger, only it is a special one, costing $25 and weighing an ounce. You charge as usual for an RC setup. Then when you go for a ride, you unplug the charger from the Large DC power supply it needs, and ride off, taking the 1 ounce charger with you. No need to take the balance leads from the charger. It is still using them. To protect you from deep battery killing discharge. Saving you buying alarms, and fitting them somewhere. It will also watch for short circuits and overloads, disconnecting the battery when things go wrong. As the main battery wires loop through it, So that it can control them.

imo, a bike is not finished till it has a bms. Every manufacturer agrees. Anything using series cells of this nature has a bms in it. Except in modeling. Where people are left to make mistakes.

Perhaps it is time to transition over. More info and pictures are available in my yginrut thread. It is a 12s build.

Really? I've seen packs go out of balance enough to be basically useless even with a BMS. I'd really like to know of a BMS that does the job as well as a quality balancer / charger.

I just ordered a Tenergy TB6-B Balance Charger, and I'll report on how that works out very soon. For bulk charging, I'm getting really tired of a bunch of bricks that are very difficult to adjust to the situation at hand and tend to break, so I'm thinking to get one of these bench top power supplies:

That should work for every battery I have, and every one I plan to build (I plan on sticking to under 60V systems). I found it for 52$ on Ebay, which seems crazy cheap, just a bit more than a standard brick charger. But it has good reviews on AliExpress, is very compact, more powerful than my existing bulk chargers, and I like the looks of it. I'll keep my bricks for overnight rides, but I imagine I'll use this 95% of the time.
