What should I build with this?

Just got this rolling frame for a few bucks:

From a 1987 Suzuki 700 something.

Set up with shaft drive now, but the guy threw in a conventional swing arm that will fit If chain drive will work out better.

Say a budget of $3,000, maybe $3500 if one of the controllers I already have won't work and I need to buy a new one.

Ideas?


(I'm tempted to stick a Yanmar 13HP diesel that I already have, in there, but have no idea of how I'd rig up a practical transmission for it.)

If the suspension is up to it, you could stick a lot of battery in there. The shaft drive could also work nicely if the motor will sit in exactly the right spot.

Well, the suspension barely budges when I sit my lard on it.I figure 72v / 40AH would fit, with plenty room left for a motor. Not sure what kind of motor to use.I don't think I need the full power of an Etek type
Couldn't do a direct drive on the shaft without having a big blob of motor sticking out the left side and unbalancing the weight. Some sort of jackshaft or gear box would be necessary.

If you don't want the full power and eight of an Etek, you might be able to get away with a Revolt RV120 (assuming the specs are accurate, it's 15kW peak and 6kW or so continuous, 45kv, and only about 10 pounds).
