Hi new to the forum and looking for some info.

I'm looking to build a 1000kw bike as I need to travel approx 10mile commute to and from work. I am wanting a 1000w kit as I want the bike to be capable of 30mph.
I'm 80kg and relatively fit. Ride is mainly straight but there is a few up and down hills.

I'm hoping to peddle when I want and try and get my fitness up but there will be some days I may want to be lazy and just do some light cycling whilst others the opposite.

My budget inc battery is £500-600 and my original plan was to go for a magic pie 3 with a 15ah li battery (£500 inc delivery for both from bums battery) however upon reading more and more into the magic pie 3 it's not the best kit if I want to cycle unaided (it's a little big also but could live with that).

Other than the magic pie 3 which kits fit into my budget and needs.

Also I'm based in uk and don't mind buying from china.

Have a look at FALCO MOTORS , if you want reliability .
It is ONLY bicycle DD hub kit in the world covered by 5 years warranty.
FALCO is designed in USA to Western standards with all kind of protections, example you cannot overheat and melt /so common on this forums/ FALCO motors.
It achives on 36V is pretty impressive , other DD hub kits need 48V to achive it.
they have several dealers in UK.
There is the thread on this forums about FALCO , just enter into search at the top.

Welcome to ES****Do this before your first post or now (it's retroactive)*****
Please go to the User Control Panel, select Profile, and then enter your city, state/province, and country into the Location field (country minimum) and save it. Once done, your location will appear in every post so you won't have people asking where you are ever again. This will help people help you. Example: Wylie, TX, USA. or just USA, but country as a minimum, and country is the most important. There are many cities with the same name all over the world. Without knowing what country you are in it's hard to make any recommendations. Thank you.

Or take your pick.

If better coasting to pedal with the motor off is your main priority, then a 500w rated gear motor like a Mac would be a great choice.

But you can pedal as hard as you like with a direct drive, at any speed your bike is geared for. If you want to sweat hard, then just give it less throttle. Just a tickle of throttle will make the resistance of a direct drive go away.

On a budget, nothing wrong with the kits Wes linked to.

Had a look at the kits in your top 10 and the one that I think looks OK for the price is the MAC from EM3ev as some of the others are not 1000w or are too expensive.

If I go with an 8T and would be using a 48v battery then which controller should I go for the 9FET or 12FET (I would have thought higher is better but the 12FET advises - 8T – OK but has the potential to overheat the motor on steep long inclines)?

Would this his kit allow me to pedal to assist the electric power and how would this compare to the Magic Pie (certainly is much smaller hub which i like) for top speed etc.

Also what else would I need to buy (or should buy) with this kit (new to e biking and want to get the order right 1st time round)

Before you buy any motor, you need to know the difference between a geared and direct drive motor. You should also check shipping and import charges, which can be significant when ordering from outside your country. You can assist any motor regardless of type. Start here.

Yes I know the difference I would be happy with either one, the direct drive I know will be the most reliable as less moving parts and the geared one is lighter and will have less resistance when peddling alone but more moving parts so more prone to failure.

Duty is 4.7% I think but I'll get sent ems as I have done this before and not been hit with charges.

I'm not a motor expert - my top 10 list was compiled on the basis of an exhaustive read of the ES-forum and much opinion, visiting web sites, looking at specs, reading some reviews, and so forth. Please see my list of components for the MAC here: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=62508&p=934420#p934420. Note that Russell, Ykick and Drunkskunk provided advise on the the controller.
