Which tyres to replace my hookworm 24 x 2.5's?

I love these hookworms, but after 10 000km it's about time to replace them, I'd buy another set if they still made them but sadly they don't. I've done a search, but the posts are old and very often the tyres they mention are also no longer produced. What can I use that'll give me as much joy as the hookworms used to?

This is the big heavy bike I need them for: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=45514

I use the Cyclops and like them ok. They are for sure not Hook Worms, but at thier price, one can buy 2 pairs at a time and replace them early. A decent quality tire at a budget price.
Right now, I'm on Maxxis Holy Rollers, I bought some back when they were the price of the CST's, but now they are over $30 ea. and I don't think they are worth that. They are basicly the same tire with different treads.
The block tread on the H.R.'s howl like crazy at speed, But I feel more comfortable in the sand strewn corners of this beach town.
They are not that flat resistant, but to combat that I run them tubeles(ghetto conversion)s and they hold the air fairly well.

I also love the 24" hookworms, did about 8000km on mine and then was sad they stopped making them.
However just a few months back my local shop was able to get some more, the shop owner believes Maxxis have done a new run of them.
He said a bike manufacturer may have put a large order in for them so Maxxis will do extra as spares.
So try to get your local shop to enquire.
Cheers
Matt.

Do you have a thread on how you converted them or some details perhaps?

I followed this procedure;
http://www.ridemonkey.com/threads/ghetto-tubeless-conversion-diy-tips-and-tricks.240026/
Because my wheels were built with wider than normal rims, I added a strip of foam sticky tape on top of the rim tape, before the split tube was put on. This took up some space and I was able to inflate the first time with a tire pump(just barely).
Make sure you use threaded Schrader valve tubes to lock them in place.
It hasn't been perfect conversion for me. Over several days I loose 10 psi from 30 psi((my riding pressure)to 20 psi(but never below), so I have to top them off. Both tires are the same, so maybe the slow loss might be due the non-tubeless tires.

The hookworm is made in 2 versions: 2 ply 60 TPI and single ply 120 TPI, two different gums too. It is a much better tire than a Cyclops. 24 in is getting hard to find but still possible in EU, small shps.

Some street Hogs can be found cheap, yet much stronger than cyclops. I like the Duro Berm Master for a street tire.

Check out the 3G Hoggy-G. Claimed 3.45" but really only a ~2.8" on a 30mm (inner) rim. Great tire, lots of grip and stability even on loose surfaces. Pretty solid down to 17-20psi on my bike. Felt Thick Brick, another good high volume option. Haven't tried mine yet, but same casing as the Hoggy-G with a different "tread" pattern. Both essentially slicks. Way more volume than a hookworm.

Schwalbe Crazy Bob is available in a 24x2.35

I have the 26x2.35 on my Yuba Mundo and like it a lot. It's ebike rated and has a 150kg weight limit per tire. Pretty beefy. The stronger sidewalls seem to make them roll a bit better than something like a Big Apple in the same size. Less flex in the sidewall I guess makes the power transfer a little bit better. I am running mine on 39mm wide rims though which increases the volume A LOT!

The Hookworm is back in production, at least that was the news a few months ago on the Unicyclist forum. I don't know what casing, or durometer is available, but a quick search showed the 24x2.5 in stock in a lot of places including Amazon.

Thanks all, I managed to find some hookworms on amazon. $150 including shipping and customs to South Africa for 2 ouch, but if they last 6000+ miles again it'll be worth it.

Hey, where do you get the 26" tubes with a threaded extended valve for double walled rims, like the ones that come on the china kits? I am running hookworms so 2.5" tubes would be best but I can't find them.
