I think I've made $30 something dollars on adsense on my site. I've tried to make it as un-lame as possible: all the ads are typically for EV stuff, ebikes, and even Ping! I've tried to restrict as much of the crap like dating sites and other BS, but I still get ads all the time for the Chevy Volt.
So while I've only made $30, my site has relatively small traffic (2,000 unique visitors and 6,000 page views since I started 6 months ago) and the traffic is growing, albeit slowly. It might not seem like a lot, but as long as the stuff is relevant my site will be getting traffic. It's a looooong term investment of my time for sure, but hey, I enjoy writing it and telling people about my hobby.
The integrated ads on youtube are annoying as hell, and if they're not relevant no one is going to click them anyways! Just an eyesore! Could you put them on the side bar and make them relevant?
It's actually a bit hard to get adsense to display the ads that you want. I know for websites it relies on contextualizing the text and matching up keywords or something. I'm not sure how it does it for youtube. Ideally, I'd want ads for ebike stuff only!
So yeah, it might be worth it. My feelings are that if you can actually help legitimate businesses get seen by people who are legitimately interested in their product than Ads aren't evil. You should look into it!
