As polls are only possible in the Forum Rules and Features section obviously, I have to post it here.
I asked for your favourite assist behaviour in this thread, but there was quite few feedback. So I wonder, if this torquesensor thing is an European or even German phenomena, as 95% of all prebuild Ebikes have torquesensor based assitance here.

Looking forward to see your votes!

Is throttle “only” the same as throttle? Meaning if you have a throttle and PAS, do you only check one of the the PAS boxes, or the throttle only box, plus a PAS box?

My idea was to check how many users are using the throttle exclusively and have no PAS or torquesensor installed at all. So, in fact riding a motorcycle, not a bicycle... :)

Are you challenging throttle enjoyers
Certainly not, everyone should find happiness in their own way. I'm just interested in how large the proportion is. Given the current level of feedback, I'm surprised that more users aren't participating in the discussion about what should be adjustable in a system with a torque sensor. 🤷‍♂️

I can't vote in the poll as it doesn't list what I want. I posted it in the other thread, but apparently not in an understandable way.

The poll as posted makes some things exclusive of other things, which is not how I want it to work. It would need either many more options, or a rewording of existing ones, with the addition of other things not yet present, to be voteable for me and probably for many others.

Checked PAS as that is how my trike is setup. Have never tried a torque sensor, but do want to. Have a throttle and use it a lot, mostly as turbo boost. But did not check throttle box.

I'd like to see how many folks use a torque sensor with PAS levels based on speed. It would seem that it would perform much like cadence PAS with PAS levels based on speed. Maybe that combination exists, but the behavior isn't intuitive.

What do you call it when someone pedals hard all the time (when not coasting or braking) and also uses the throttle at the same time, no PAS or torquesensor?

It would be impossible to regard all thinkable options in a poll.
There are just 23 votes at the moment, but I have not expected, that so many are using a middrive and a torquesensor in this forum.
I don't believe that this represents the sales figures on the DIY market.

I checked a lot of the boxes as I have a lot of ebikes. That would be rear and front hubmotors, mid-drive motors; all with either cadence or torque sensing PAS's, with or without throttles.
Maybe there is one best configuration, but in my experience they all might be good for specific applications.

Most people on this forum are in the USA, so the average person goes for higher power and doesn't have to care about pedal assist being mandatory. You'd definitely get a biased view here.

Hopefully we can get a bigger sample size!

Well, neither of those has anything to do with what I want, so not sure why you quoted me when posting it. :?

The BBSXX mid-drives are both PAS with speed level and PAS with power level. Just sayin'.....

On your comment “The poll as posted makes some things exclusive of other things, which is not how I want it to work.”, I’m pointing out some selections should be exclusive of other selections, or where making them inclusive makes little sense.
For me, the survey would be a lot easier to answer, if the overarching question was removed all together. It’s easy to answer torque vs cadence, or speed vs power control, or assist etc., but I currently don’t have one bike with all of my preferences. I have a torque sensor on my mid drive, and although I like it, a mid drive is far from my idea of of my favorite ebike setup.
I use PAS when Im just riding at a steady pace, but otherwise use throttle for pedal assist. I don’t have to ever change assist levels when using throttle for assist, and when using a hub motor, I don’t need to shift either. Torque sensor would be nicer than cadence, on those occasions when I’d use PAS, and I might use PAS more if through my pedals I could access 4kW without changing assist levels, gears, or anything else.

That's one of the advantages of the torquesensor, you can get the full range of assistance without fiddling with buttons.
But this not the topic of this thread :)
Perhaps we get some more votes...
