Not expecting any epoxy issues, as the box was very tight on the frame without epoxy. The design means that the box sits on top of the top tube and is snug around the headset. Regarding the performance the Mac cruises at about 40kmph. The batteries sag about 7 to 5v at full current but give the...

    Bighit 8t mac

Deffx, Finally finished my build (nearly). Didn't end up welding to the frame but used epoxy to attach a alloy box. Bighits are a good donor bike. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=56221 cheers Matt

Inspired by Timmas frame welding I have 'upgraded' a big hit frame. The more I read and learnt about welding aluminium I became uncomfortable with loss of strength and need for heat treatment to achieve suitable yield levels. I had an alloy box build around the frame and headset with the aim of...

    Kepler Super Commuter Mk2

Hi Kepler, Inspired by your earlier build I have attempted to go down as similar root. Picked up an old model brand new Kona dew hybrid (with hydraulic brakes and flat bar) for NZD 350 and mounted a small befang in the rear. The large topeak dry bag is perfect for 18650s. Went for 12s3p of LGD1...

    Where to buy reliable BMS

I have repaired the short and the BMS is no longer hot in this circuit. However it won't pass current when connect to a circuit. I bought thee at once and have replaced with another and all works fine. Photo below is of the faulty BMS. Cheers Matt

    Where to buy reliable BMS

I think I have found the problem. There appears to be a short in the circuit for balancing the first cell. I will upload some pics shortly.

    Where to buy reliable BMS

By -ve I meant the negative terminal. The balancing circuit on the first cell is discharging from that cell even though it is well below the balancing voltage. That circuit is too hot to touch. Also the bms it stopping current going to the controller. Cheers Matt

    Where to buy reliable BMS

Hi I bought a D167 to run at 12s on a 16s board and have a couple of issues. I build a brand new pack from LG D1 all perfectly balanced at 3.77V. When I connected it up the channel on the -ve (first cell) got very hot and began to discharge this cell. Secondly on connection to the controller it...

    Bighit 8t mac

Deffx, I have just bought the same bike and looking to make similar mods. Will either go with the 'box' option like you have or will replace the whole bottom tune similar to timmas builds. Did you cut out the existing bottom tube or is it hidden inside the box? Cheers Matt

18650 cell test: Panasonic vs. LG

Hi, A comparison between the Panasonic pd and lg d1 can be found at the link below http://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Common18650comparator.php The Panasonic cell is the enerpower + 18650 2900mAh 3C (Blue) I have bought 72 of the Panasonic pd cells from fasttech for a 5s14p pack for...

NCR18650PD Anybody heard of this cell yet and maybe a source

Hi, I built a 5P14S pack from these cells a couple of months back for a family member. He hasn't finished the rest of the bike yet so no real world results. I bought 72 cellts from fasttech for ~$7 each deliverd, the price is now around $6. I had 1 spare after repairs were made to a demaged...

Samsung INR18650-20R .. yes these cells can punch, new 24R

Hi guys I went for the Panasonic NCR 18650 PD, 2.9ah, rated for 10A continuous discharge. My pack is 14S5P giving ~ 15ah @ 52V. This bike it is going through a cellman 40A 12FET inferion controller. While the C rating of PD cells is lower than the Samsung 20R’s, the Panasonic C rating is high...

Samsung INR18650-20R .. yes these cells can punch, new 24R

While trying to find out more about NCR cells, I stumbled aross a shop ' FASTTECH' They have 2 x Panasonic NCR18650PD cells for ~ $15 with free shipping They use Paypal and a quick Google search didn't come up qwith any 'scam' type warnings or reviews...

Samsung INR18650-20R .. yes these cells can punch, new 24R

From the info here these cells look promising to me - They are relativly energy dense, safe ?, can be made made to form a triangle or other shape and have a C rating that is useful for most. Also a supplier who will do most of the work to make a useable pack. A couple questions, What is the...

HS3540 BOSS BUILD. Now H4065 Boss Build

Yes the CA3 displays the actual temp on the main screen. It flicks every few seconds between ah used, km travelled and temp. Yes the post about the 390 ohm resister is the one I was referring to, not specific to this thermistor but fixes the same problem. Can't help with the lm35, don't know...

HS3540 BOSS BUILD. Now H4065 Boss Build

GC, I'm really just using my CA3 to monitor temp but you can set the high temp limit, the point whter the CA "takes over" and kills the output. i have set mine at 140oC. After reading through pages and pages of the CA3 threat, It's actually really simple to set up. 1) plug the white wire into...

    Greentime controllers

Update on the slow throttle responce, Leo has confrimed that they somtimes program a slow throttle ramp for "safety". Will need to order a new one and ask for a fast throttle responce..... Also, what modifications are required to the greentime controller to get the Cycle analyst throttle...

HS3540 BOSS BUILD. Now H4065 Boss Build

Guys, I believe the white wire is connected to a 2k thermistor with the other side of the thermistor connected to the -ve signal from the Halls. I have checked the resistance between the two of the them and its around 2k at ambient. Check out the thread below...

    Greentime controllers

John , thanks for the advice. I have a CA and have tried disconecting it without any improvement. I think you might be right about the throttle setting. I will email leo It definatly feels like a slow build up of power at take-off. It is an 80 amp controller and the take off is slow (a first...

    Xlyte EB312 5v regulator problems

Thanks Neil, I agree, there should be 5V output from U1 and the input volate to U2 is far to low. AS thhe resitances across the SMR's are ewual to the stammepd rating, they apperar to be working correctly, therfore I think there is a higher amps flow through this circuit to bring the voltage...

    Greentime controllers

Thanks for the feedback guys, Ian - I will check the resistance acrocss the power supply and phase wires? Will this show a shorted FET? John - I never specified any current ramp up time. Can this be checked or adjusted? Thanks Matt

    Xlyte EB312 5v regulator problems

Thanks Neil, Really apprecieate your help I got the controller back last night and opened up. See the photos below. It’s the same board as your one with 4310 fets. I measured the resistance of the two surface mounted resistors at the bottom of the board (stamped 01C & 85B) and they were around...

    Xlyte EB312 5v regulator problems

Thanks Neil for all your help, I have another photo of the back of the board that I took earlier when first dismanlted after the problem started. Greentime controllers

Hi guys, I've got the 24fet (4110), 80A version for my xlyte 4065. I have only had it running for a couple days but and find the throttle responce to be very laggy. In particular when going between full throttle, to zero throttle than back to full throttle. On return to full throttle from zero...
