I'm looking for a 2-3 kW motor (around 5kW peak) for converting an outboard motor for a small boat (dinghy).
48V battery.
I've found Golden motor 3 kW with EZkontrol EZ-A48400 and QS motor with FarDriver or Votol controller.
Both choice at around 1k$ or less.

Is there other choice?
Is there reasons to prefer QS over GM? Or FaDriver over Votol?
Thanks

Where are you located? On the offchance it might work for you. I still have a couple of these scrapyard pump motors, one of which I used for my moped conversion. Post #62 has a pic of estimated specs. You're welcome to one.

Interesting small motor. I'm near Montreal, Canada.
What kind of controller do you suggest for this motor?

I have it running off the cheapest 3000w controller I could find on aliexpress. It's BLDC with halls, so you could probably get it running with most any controller

Might want to consider this, if you can get one:
5kW Grin Marine Motor, 20 rpm/V

Controllers? i don't have experience with this kind of application, but i like VESCs a lot because they're open source and the software that runs it is highly refined.

I realized that I can use my ASI BAC2000 I have in hand for this project.
I'm still open to suggestion for motor.

The 3KW Golden motor is a beast. Great motor for the dollar. The motor is an axial motor style and is available with water cooling, so it seems like a good fit.
