Thanks all.
Am not sure where to post this so am just following up here. I was looking at Grin/ebike.ca and EM3ev packs when building these bikes but wanted something UL 2271 certified. At the time I purchased the packs neither Grin nor EM3ev had UL certified packs. Grin only seems to have 36 volt downtube packs anymore and it doesn't appear that EM3ev is certifying to UL 2271. Are there any good 40-50am 52v packs certified to UL 2271?

It’s a pretty expensive certification for a small business to absorb and the annual costs to maintain the certification are really high.
Compare a 700Ah $1700 specialized battery to $400 EM3EV battery of the same size. Yes, Specialized is gouging you due to their proprietary components, but they are also passing along those certification costs as well.
Looking at all of the available options, good build quality and components, plus a great reputation is something I’m willing to pay for, and a certification is just a nice to have since it doesn’t provide any guarantees. All of those EV car batteries that have caught fire are all UL certified.

You are correct. It is expensive for small companies and won't fix all of the problems with batteries. But it should help make sure your insurance pays out in the event of a problem. This reminds me, I should share some photos and descriptions of my charging/storage tub also built with the help of Endless Sphere members.

I'm not sure why I was only seeing those few batteries yesterday, but I see a 52v 40a continuous downtube pack (as well as several 48 volt versions) on Grin's website today. The 52v version is 20Ah which is much heavier and expensive than I was hoping to get. I'm also not seeing anything about battery certification which was the reason for their clearance in the Fall.
