Will this work 94v 45a 500 watt rear hub motor ? I am new and need advice from you pros.
Thanks

What are you asking? Will what work?

My assumption is you are looking at replacing your current controller with a Hua Tong 72V 45A controller, and you have a '500W' motor.

Will it work? Most likely, yes. Your motor would need to be sensored, which it most likely is, and you would then have a 45A current limit, which is most likely high for a 500W motor. It would depend on what voltage you intend on running, and if its a DD or geared motor. But yes, any sensored 3 phase BLDC controller should work on a 500W sensored hub motor. It just depends on what you want to achieve with it.

yes it will work.

do you have any pics of the motor? and of it inside..

i put 6kw through a 800 watt golden motor... still works and still use it...
it can only really be used as a slow cruise bike 40 kmh
or a bike that can be used for short 10 seconds bursts of 6kw and decent resting in between like 5 mins...
climbs any hill at top speed.. so im prob creating way to much heat, i will need to turn down the settings on my controller.

your going from 500 watts to like 3500 watts..

gonna be fun...

Thanks for responding no pics yet,I just purschased off e bay today, it comes with its own controller but there is a crystalyte 72v 45a there also, bu I wanted to run it buy some of you pros before I wasted my money on something that wont work.
I could get a smaller v controller maybe 60 but I really want to try for 30 mph or so. the controller is a crystalyte 72v 45a sensorless,The motor is DD , I ask the seller if it would work he said yes, but i just wanted some more opinions.

look at this place for a controller

i like them the brand, kelly
http://kellycontroller.com/

you could pick up a 72 -90 volt max controller for about $159 with regen braking option...
although i would not use regen on your motor as it will just heat it up even more...

when you get the motor.. see if you are able to drill some holes in the side, by taking the covers off...

do you want to post the link of your purchase and we can see what you can do when you get it if you like...

This is the link address to the motor I bought.you will need to cut and paste.

TThanks again guys

I'd hold off on buying a second controller and extra batteries until after you recieve the kit and install it, making sure nothing is defective and learn how its supposed to be configured before you jump into modifying all the wires from a second controller.

I have a build going on at the moment too and I wanted to go and buy everything all at once but thankfully a couple of guys on here stopped me from doing that and making a few mistakes and wasting time and money.

Once you get your kit you will be able to open up your controller and look at the FETs, and figure out how much voltage they can handle. If you can't figure it out just ask and include a good picture showing the writing on the side of the FETS and how many there are.

I have heard everything from 9 - 13 series lipo being used on a 36 volt controller But that was because every1 who answered had different experiences with different controllers. This is a major range of voltage. 50v in 36v controller is pretty common, so is running 100v with a 72 volt controller.

I assume you want to use lipo at 72volts - 72 volts of lead is really really heavy.
here are some links for lowest cost per kh lipo out there

That motor is definielty capable of 1500w, pretty much continuous. It could still melt on a long enough hill, but I'm talking climbing a mountain, not a "hill".

You are wanting more like 3000w. It still works, but you do have to watch the ride duration. Melting one is possible at that wattage. Most of us do a few mods, like bigger phase wires so we at least don't have to worry about melting the wire in the axle. You can just replace the wire with fat stuff to axle, then the small wire left in the hub can heatsink to the fat wire.

You should have no big problems with 3000 w rides of 8 miles or so, about what you get from 72v 10 ah.

You will need a superb torque arm/ torque plate, for a motor that puts out 2-3 hp.

Thanks for all your replys , This is a GREAT web site, Iwill post pics of inside of motor and controller when I get them in hand.
Thanks again gentelmen and drunkskunk!
