Anyone modded an arrow type bike?

The one thing the arrow type ebikes have going for them is a great way to mount a large capacity battery. Of course, who knows how good the battery quality is, but you could theoretically get a broken/ used up one and replace the cells with good ones. I've thought in the past that they would make a good donor bike, although im currently moving to full suspension so it doesn't fit my needs. But anyone ever use one as a base to upgrade?

There are many ebikes that had been named arrow over the years. So, which one is it? Cargo? Touring? Scooter?

And, if it doesn’t suit you anyway, why bother?

I don't know which "arrow type ebike" you are looking at, but there are a number of threads about some of them. Are any of these the one you are looking at?

im referring to the typical cheap(ish) chinese bikes common with delivery guys. the ones with the battery that slides in behind the seatpost when you lift the seat up. they usually dont have a very strong motor, 300-500w, but the battery capacity is fairly large, often 26 ah.

while i dont plan to myself, im just curious if anyone has used one as a base to upgrade to a more powerful motor, better electronics, etc. it seems to me it would be good for that as its already specialized to carry a large battery. if nothing else, putting it out there for someone who might be interested in doing it.

I was just asking you if any of htem were the same kind you want to modify, so you could tell us which specific one you were looking at by referring to an existing thread.

Without knowing whcih specific bike you're looking at, it's tough to tell you what could be done to it to do what you're after.
(would also need a list of specifically what you want it to do, to help figure out how to do that within the limits of the bike and your budget, abilities, etc).

If you're willing to do the work and spend the money, you can modify any bike to do anything you want to do. There may not be much of the original bike left when you're done, but it can be done.

ah. this is the type im talking about - https://www.roadbikerider.com/nyc-arrow-e-bike-brand/

im not looking to do anything to one myself, but im wondering if anyone else has, as they seem to be a great base to build a higher powered bike off of. they even have 48 volt versions that could be upgraded to 1500 watt motor and still use the same battery.

I had one of those type of ebike frames, Strong GTS
I burnt the stock brushed motor out in under a week but then I installed a MXUS 3000W 45H rear hub motor and Lithium Ion batteries. I liked that frame because it was steel, I still have that frame, though I did bent the shock mount but its all weldable.

I've been thinking about this kind of bike, it has a long tail, long rear triangle and long wheelbase, which should give it a better ride than most hard tails. Dogman Dan is an advocate of long tail bikes, take a look at his builds and read what he has to say about long tail bikes.

Arrow 7 and 10 look like ideal NYC bikes to me, just add a suspension seatpost. Enoch's bike shop in NYC is interesting to visit, it was a bike messenger shop a decade or so ago. Pronounced E-nock.

Along that line, a tandem ridden solo is a really long tail bike and cargo bikes like the Yuba Spicy Curry are long tail too.
