There is one locally for sale for 200 euro's with. Said to have a bad battery and missing key. Would a ping battery of 225x105x150 mm fit? It looks like it would be 50mm to high, but will the width of 105mm fit?
I doubt it NiCo - but I will check tonight. Is it because you already have a ping?
No key isnt a big problem. You can buy generics. Or hide a switch or two on the body somewhere.
Or you could PM this guy and make him an offer:

More thoughts on gears wearing in the past:
I think most of my gear wearing came from:
- towing a trailer with two kids and a dozen beers and a picnic in the back - going over gutters jerks the drivetrain (major effect)
- shifting gears at speed without backing off the accelerator (wouldnt do that in a car) - major effect
- inexperienced riders hopping on and making full throttle twists suddenly from standstill in the wrong gear. No more.
- the extra torque from the 30 amp controller+throttle
I am thinking now that I will stop it with the first three points. I reckon the gearbox can easily handle things if I shift responsibly and stop towing 50 kilos of weight linked by a spring while hitting gutters.
My thumb throttle has a very short stroke and suddenly bursts at about half way. I could make a throttle interface with a known ramp function, but I think that is only necessary if a noob is riding and not thinking, just mashing the throttle at low speed.
With just me and my work backpack and the new gear everything feels nice and tight. if it stays that way for a few months I am going to consider a controller >30 amps shunt.

If i wasn't right in the middle of my first ebike build i would not hesitate and got the enjoy right away!
Before yesterday i never heard of this aprilia, but i like it!
I even have a PCB that i can use as a controller for maybe max 20-30A that has enough inputs and outputs that i can program myself.
Opened up my second gearbox on Sunday. Same wear on same main gear.
Also as I pulled the chainring assy out of the case I managed to disassemble the ratchet/sprag clutch. It was really easy to put back together though. There is a round wire spring clip that I made back into a circle with some long nosed pliers, then the two little hardened wings that stick out were easy to pop back in.
Time to order another gear and roller bearing for it and get on with repairing my wife's bike....
Anyone who's wondered what their bottom bracket bike might perform like with a 3 phase motor might like this thread.

I am after a new controller for the new Aprilia I bought recently. I wasn't sure where is best to buy them these days.Is it still best in China or TNC Scooters? Is the YK40-2 still the way to go? Is the LBD14 the same controller?
I couldn't wait for the new controller from China to put into the new bike I bought so I decided to take it out of the "city" version which is going to be getting the Nuvinci hub I picked up cheap on ebay. I had a new cassette and chain put on this bike a couple of months ago and it is doing the same thing all over again. It doesn't like being in top gear(all other gears are okay) and having too much pressure put on the peddles without feeling like the chain is slipping briefly (gives me the shits something awful) I have tried adjusting the cable tension and the limit screws to no avail.I figure I will put the Nuvinci hub on and that should sort that out.The same thing happens with my "racing" version as well but the cable adjusting sorts that out.Has anyone had this problem?
Anyway what I wanted to say was that when I went to disconnect the controller both the electrical connector to the battery and to the motor were both melted! to the point where they could not be separated, male from female.I am not sure if it is the extra heat from the motor running at 1100watts or thereabouts or what.It has been working okay in its current setup for about a year I suppose.Any ideas anyone?
I've already thrown the melted connectors out and put the controller into the new bike.Went for a ride yesterday and this morning and all was okay until I got to my big hill at the end of the ride and the motor/gearbox made a lot of noise coming up the hill.It is okay again when it cools down. That is the same trouble you had with your wasn't it Sam? I think I am going to have to do what you did and fix a couple of motors....bugger.
Tony,.. is your "chain slipping" issue just the chain hopping from one sprocket to another , and back again quickly .??
If so, it should be just a matter of adjusting the derailleur or its spring tension.
They can be tricky to get right unless you are used to them.
melted connectors suggest a poor connection = high resistance = heat.
Re make the connections with good soldering .
No, the chain is staying on the smallest sprocket as far as I can tell anyway.I will stop the bike when it happens and have a look and it is always on the smallest sprocket. I think you may be right about the connector as I didn't do a great job on the connector as it was my first attempt on this bike..
If it is staying on the small rear sprocket uphill it will be struggling as it should be up the other end of the ratio for mech advantage. That might have fried your gearbox if I read correctly.
Rode my rebuilt one home for lunch - 55.8kph on 8s with a tailwind! Legs feel like pistons! Whirrrrrr
G'day Sam,
I'm not King Kong.I go up the hill on the lowest gear. The problem with the chain only happens on the flat in top gear when I am putting pressure on the pedals.
Sounds like a worn pinion then. If its skipping on the hardest rating you will prob get another 500km or more if you are gentle and accelerate slower than usual. Thrash it and you will wear a flat spot that starts to skip as you pedal each second rev (because of the internal gearing).
Dad reckons he has found me the mother of all workbenches. Might be good for bolting those pinions too. Now I just need the hammer of Thor to get them undone.
Must not hold car/house keys in hand while carrying Aprilia's box o' lithium! I let some smoke out! And I have half a terminal left on the battery box butt-end!
Thank Dawk I was wearing gloves on a cold morning!
