Bafang nylon gear wont fit

Hi,

I recently bought a BBS02 nylon gear from greenbikekit.com. When I recieved it I noticed it did not look exactly the same as mye original gear. Trying to replace it I found out that the new gear simply does not fit on my BBS02 unit.

Can someone tell me if there are multiply versions of this nylon gear? In that case, where can I by one that fits my unit?

The possibility exists that they may have accidentally shipped you a BBSHD gear instead of the BBS02 gear. I have no way to verify, just a thought...

I´m very stuck with this case. I´m quite sure that these two gears are not identical (not interchangeable), but greenbikekit does not agree with me

UPDATE:

After a month of confusion I finally solved this issue.

There are (at least) two generations of the BBS01/BBS02 nylon gear. The way to visually tell them apart is by looking at the one way needle bearings. G1 has "one row" of needles. G2 has three. See photo:

Greenbikekit and Luna Cycle were initially not aware of this issue (now they are). They only supply the G2 gear. Greenbikekit har stopped selling the gear until they have more information about the issue. According to Luna Cycle Bafang is no longer producing the G1 nylon gear.

I bought the G1 nylon gear at California Ebike.

Sorry I am late to the party, this also happened to me. There is also a G2 pinion gear that goes with the G2 nylon gear. You could theoretically switch to G2 by purchasing the G2 pinion, nylon gear, and finding the g2 bearing for the small end of the pinion.

The inner diameter on the bottom of the G2 gear is smaller than the G1 gear and will not fit the pinion axle.

Probably the serial number. God knows when G1 ended and G2 began though.

Bafang has done this a few times - making changes - without notifying dealers or changing designations.

Bafang likes to add a bit of mystery to their products.

If it says "BBS02B" on your unit its certain that you have the new version. If not, and you want to be 100% sure without opening it, order both gear versions.

No since no one gives enough of a shit to take Bafang to rask and pin changes to serial numbers. Best order both. Sell extra on eBay and eat the loss.

The point isn't buying them , its knowing which to order when there are two possibilities, without opening up the case. Although if the replacement is needed a fella would have to open the case...i have all version in my kit. Problem solved.

The controller cover is different on the version B BBS02. It looks more like the bbshd controller cover than the old bbs02 cover.
