Nice to see, but the range is still prohibitive across the board.

Same. I don't know why you say it's prohibitive. You probably can't build a board with those base specs for less than $500 (on a DIY scale in any case). Markup of 200% is pretty reasonable I'd say for a product like this. I'm sure they've spent a lot of dev time and cash, and I'm sure people will buy them.

Don't take your DIY prowess for granted!

Based on specs, the single drive seems to outweigh the others on nearly every level, imo. The significant benefit of the dual's are torque, but the batteries are the same. You'd think they'd offer a higher voltage/capacity battery option. I'm thinking in a year or so they'll offer a different battery and a pneumatic wheel models. I don''t see them sticking with those tiny 75mm's forever.

A guy takes apart the wheel to change the bearings (you can sorta see inside the mount too)!

I think you misunderstood my post. I was referring specifically to the range of the board (6 miles, reported as even less for many users) being prohibitive. I've no problem with their pricing.

Very cool! For the dual plus model I wonder how they were able to get the price down.

They are using cheaper motors and they most likely need to sell more boards to keep in business. I assume the $1995 or $1799 wasn't cutting it. They're top model is now only $1499.. Sucks for all those other people who bought it at the higher price.

Do they build on demand? What are their overhead costs that would cause them to bleed out if they don't sell enough boards? Are their R&D/employees contracted for a certain amount of time or something?

Seems with their 36volt esc theyre able to get the watts without overdoing the amps on a single tiny 40mm motor. Claims 15% hills. Looking at HK the smaller motors at 40mm or below are only specified as capable of around 6s. Why would these motors not be capable of 12s if the laquer on the windings is the same as a bigger motor? Maybe its not the same

A 12s esc and tiny motor could stay with the amp limits and hit the needed watts on a board it seems

6 miles sucks!!!
must have been a pretty unpleasant event.. to hike their price up and then end up lowering it...
guess the demand for $2000 6 mile range eboards just wasnt there..

Well they do have to eat and pay rent and live... they have also invested a huge amount of time/knowledge into this venture... it is not like they can just say.. a well lets sell 5 boards a month and live off that... That said they better get their ass in gear. They should have become the fords of the eboard industry... just hammering out model Ts equivalent.. there is a lot more competition today and the runner ups are hungry, also the hobby industry has evolved to a point were off the shelve motors and (and soon escs) will overwhelm them. It is just a metter of time till their cosmetic advantage is diminished and they end up as "could have been"s.. too bad

they have obviously been keeping an eye on the endless sphere forums... they are getting scared because our DIY products will surpass (both in performance & price) theirs probably within the next few months (if they haven't already)

I'm not sure about this move. They should have just stuck with one board and lower the price to $1500.

This is like Bugatti offering a 4-cylinder 100hp version of the Veyron, totally ruins the experience and the brand.

In the end, the value-concious people will still buy the E-go than their $999 board because...ugh, the E-go is still cheaper.

Payment plan ($99/month) for those that are on a budget. 8)

sort of the "blackberry" smartphones of eboards...
Blackberry sold the concept, sold the planet on blackberry messenger.... got everyone hooked on checking their mail on the go...and then just sort of fizzed out... iphones and galaxies then took over the market, wassap took the place of bbmessenger...

6 miles when we average when we average at least twice that... 20 mph when we do 25ish (or twice that in some cases) ...at halfthe price...the rc market evolved, ES evolved...we all evolved.. They were sooooooo far ahead of us a year ago when i did my boosted reverse enginered design... they will be so far behind this time next year.

Looking into the 6 month future...once torque's batts are in, and Vedder's ESC are in, they'll just have the cosmetics...
Im working on a small 3dprinted enclosure for the hobbyking 150 (an then plan on another for vedder's esc) that will be available for opensource download on thingyverse... onloop, alien and torque have motormounts... the wheels and boards are available on ebay... the ntm 5060 is more than enough for any two motor board.. the tacons/big turnigys are awesome for single motor drives...there is really no NEED for better motors.. just the desire to keep evolving...

there is very littleniche space left for a high priced utlimate board.. with 6 miles range.

Yeah, the community has grown 10 fold within the last year. I should have some bolt on motor mounts soon enough.

That's probably where they shoot themselves in the foot -> 6 miles.

It's funny because when I find a boosted rider here in SF and ask them how they like their mileage. They like to say it's more then enough. They don't ride enough :)

which board for the general public can do what you are boasting? please understand not everyone has the know-how to build their own customized board from the ground up.

One of my colleagues bought boosted and on the receipt I saw number 8200 something and that was couple of moths ago. The do sell a lot of boards worldwide and the price will eventually get lower. Once the design was finalized they only have to focus on production and price reduction. Do the math and then you will realize how big they are as a company.

That's true but they could of started at 2000, 4000, 6000, etc. Nobody knows but them. Anyhow, if they have sold 8200 more power to them.

boosted has a programed speed limit in the esc (controller) because it's purchased as a complete board and legally it can only be ..20 i thought but boosted will write 23 in their ad. for california this is. And legally here in california u cant ride it on the road or sidewalk. Maybe they could be taken to criminal court with their own video as evidence

If u watch their videos they tell and its no secret the 36 volt ability of their esc could do...40? Most people here will go with 22volts but if u wanted to go faster u could do even 50volts or something, still only costing maybe 100$more.

maybe the voltage isnt the only way to speed and you could use high c rated batteries. Anyone try high vs low c batteries?
Are esc programmed to pass more amps to the motor or does just the c rating and pack size determine the amp draw?

my boards can do that and they cost $600.
