Hi Guys,

I'm getting tired of replacing batteries in lights, soI want to power the LEDS with my ~48V e-bike battery. After poking around for a while I found this:

http://www.trcelectronics.com/Cosel/sus34805b.shtml

It converts 36-72VDC to 5 VDC, 3W max.

I should be able to hook that up to an LED driver to provide the required lighting. The only issue is that it says "we only sell to businesses". Do I ignore that and just order it, is there a better supplier, or another product that does the same thing?

Thanks,

-Warren.

Agreed. They run cool, whereas another dc-dc converter I used melted the trunk bag in which it was stored. The Hitrons can power a magicshine/p7 either off the 6v 3A or the 12v 1A without much complaint

Look at (SCOOTER SUPPORT.COM) thay have a good dc-dc 36volt-48volt 10amp (120 watts) for $24.oo plus shipping, these are good convertors and I have about 6 of them. It's listed under the electrical parts section.

Thanks guys, the Hitron converter looks like the ticket! I just ordered a couple.

I have lost two tail lights already because they take a pounding and vibrate loose and at 30MPH you can't hear them fall off. Because this has 3 output voltages I have a choice of what to use, and 30 watts means I can power front and rear lights with the same converter.

Thanks again!

yes good call, i ordered 4 of them a week ago, they arrived today and no customs charges either as the value as under 18 dollars :) and that was without adjusting the value to get it to slip through.

Be a shame when they are all gone! thats why I got 4 of them.

Damn, no more left. And can't find anything with approximately equivalent specs eBay. Only a 8v 1a one, a bit too weak for a Magicshine.

I wonder if that one would work. Outputs 12v 1500ma. Does Magicshine self-regulate the current? Otherwise I'd always be feeding it 18w which I believe is its max power handling. Dunno if that's a good idea.
