Most of you already know that what you see in this photo was the result of a spectacular short. Last Wednesday I was fixing a charging wire that came loose between cells #A1 and #A2 and POW! my 35 watt soldering iron shorted on cell #A14 and vaporized the copper tab I fabbed. CIMG8062.jpg
I need to be slapped. I'm getting too careless and losing my respect for electricity. I have to remind myself to treat battery pack operations like these like heart surgery. All tabs should always be covered with duct tape or cardboard exposing only the cell being repaired.

The short opened up a tiny hole on the positive end of cell #A14 which means it's chemicals will eventually dry up and the cell will surely die... *sniffle* RIP. This is the second time I killed an M1 cell this way and the third cell I killed since I started this hobby in 2007. The first cell died of cell reversal.

 Hmm... I didn't think of till now but I may be able to save this cell if I seal the hole with a drop of solder but it may be too late by the I have the chance to get to it.

On the bright side of life, my idea of replaceable cells idea worked out! But not without a bit of effort. I cut the tabs of the damaged cell and hoped to simply slip it out of the heat shrink tube but it was too tight so I worked it loose by slipping in a bamboo BBQ skewer worked it all the way around.

:x My bike fell over and the stereo speaker mount that I jerry-rigged made with a VHS case held down with a velcro strap shattered to pieces like minced meeces. My speakers survived, phew ~

Oh well, that mount was fugly anyway. http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3035&start=60

I knew that one day I'd shit me a great mounting design that would highlight the elegant curves that JBL's excellent designers put into their awesome awesome product.

 So this week, I shat me a brilliant mount design, buzzed down to the local hardware store and got sheet of All-You-Minion, and in just a few hours fashioned rock steady mount! Tis true! Rock-farkin-steady.

Today while leisurely cruising home and listening to some smooth-assed jazz, I realized I should drop the idea building a chain or geared driven ebike . I just can't allow the slightest noise to disturb my groove.

That and the fact that I'm nearly deaf from years of DJing and partying. See the film "It's all gone Pete Tong"

*gasp* Must. *gasp* Have. *gasp* MUSIC! *gasp*

Sounds a bit extreme but the way I see it, motorcycles and high-end bicycles should always come with some sort of sound system. Can you imagine your favorite car WITHOUT A SOUND SYSTEM, I think not... same diff.

I'm still the Bomb. Sorry.
